WITH STRENGTH IN THE HEART
According to Aunt Akiyama there will soon be a festival, my favorite festival, tanabata festival, the blissful festival of the stars, my mother used to tell me about that legend "the princess and the shepherd. Orihime the Weaver Princess, was the daughter of Tentei the Heavenly King. Orihime wove splendid cloth on the banks of the Amanogawa River. Her father loved her fabrics, and she worked hard day after day to have them ready, but, because of her work, the princess could not meet someone to fall in love with, which saddened her greatly. Concerned for his daughter, her father arranged a meeting between her and Hikoboshi, a shepherd who lived across the Amanogawa River.
When the two met they instantly fell in love and, soon after, married. However, once they were married, Orihime began to neglect her chores and stopped weaving for her father, while Hikoboshi paid less and less attention to his livestock, which ended up scattered across Heaven. Furious, the Heavenly King separated the lovers, one on each side of the Amanogawa, and forbade them to see each other. Orihime, in desperation
, asked her father to allow them to see each other one more time. Her father, moved to tears, agreed to allow the lovers to see each other on the seventh day of the seventh month, provided Orihime had finished her work. However, the first time they tried to see each other they found that they could not cross the river, as there was no bridge. Orihime cried so much that a flock of cranes came to her aid and promised to make a bridge with their wings so they could cross the river. The lovers were finally reunited and the cranes promised to come every year as long as it did not rain. When that circumstance happens, the lovers have to wait to meet until the following year.", There are still two months to go as it is in summer, and the first one will soon be over. I am so excited about this festival because I am so fond of the stars, and that legend has a beautiful love story... that I will never contemplate.
