Chapter Fifty-One: Beneath the Red Moon The sky above Greyhowl burned crimson as the full moon rose—a deep, blood-red orb that shimmered with an unnatural glow. It wasn’t just a celestial event. The moon had become a mirror, reflecting something ancient and waiting just beneath the surface of the world. Lilly stood on the western tower balcony, arms wrapped around herself as the chill of prophecy kissed her skin. Her hair whipped in the wind, wild and untamed, a flame against the night sky. Her belly shifted beneath her hands, the twins reacting to the magic in the air.

It doesn’t matter that I don’t see any; I’m aware of them now. I climb the stairs and can’t resist pushing on a door that’s partially open—cameras or no. It’s directly across the hall when I reach the landing. I’m excited to find that it’s a library with books lining tall oak shelves. There are two comfortable reading chairs and behind them a large business desk. I wonder if this is Moon’s office. Snooping in different rooms is one thing. Going through his desk quite another, and I won’t do it. I’ll forget that Moon told me to treat his home as my own. Instead, I search the shelves and read titles. It’s barely after twelve and I need to kill some time. I should have asked Mr. Thug where Moon

A stirring of something ancient and primal. The full moon was rising, and I could feel its power calling to me. I was a werewolf, and I had done something. Something terrible. But what? As the moon rose higher in the sky, I felt my body begin to change. My senses grew sharper, my muscles stronger. And then, everything went black again. When I came to, I was standing in the middle of a forest, surrounded by trees that seemed to stretch up to the sky. The moon was still rising, casting a silver glow over everything.

The moonlight was coming in through the window and making the room lighter. For some reason in that moment her mind went to Quinn. He’d always called her “his moon” because of her eyes. He’d once told her he’d never met another person with grey/silver eyes like hers. He told her they reminded him of the moon the way they shone. He also said that that’s what she was to him.. the Moon… because she was his light in the dark. Her mind came back to the present. Whatever was blocking the light from outside was coming into focus. She followed it up .. higher and higher until she reached the top of the object.

Quintella said. "My baby, my baby, my baby," I found myself muttering after I had shut my eyes, delving into the depth of my consciousness. "The full moon is setting, Theda. Take the step now." Hearing that, I flicked open my eyes and arose. Sighting the full moon, I tried to smile but my anxiety held me back. As the full moon casts its ethereal glow upon the river bank, trembling with anticipation, I stood in a clearing, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of nature. My heart raced as the moonlight embraced me, signaling the onset of my transformation.

Jasper Reid programmed the address into Jasper’s phone, right down to the GPS map. “See here,” he pointed to a building well back from the main road. “It doesn’t look like much normally, just some sheds. But on fight night, it comes alive, and you won’t be able to miss it. There will be hundreds of cars there, and lights and music. Just remember, there are humans there too, guests, so although it’s a full moon, no shifting.”

Luna, in turn, regaled them with cosmic anecdotes, weaving a tapestry of celestial wonders that captivated the Blackmoon audience. As the night deepened, the moon cast its silvery glow over the Blackmoon landscape. Luna, surrounded by the warmth of newfound friends, felt a sense of cosmic kinship that transcended the boundaries of realms. The Blackmoon enclave, once veiled in shadows, now stood as a testament to the transformative power of celestial intervention.

I'd better make them count where I could. "Well, my first question would be, should I go back to the castle?" "A question for the present that's directed at you, most patient mother." "Yes," a voice boomed from somewhere inside my chest, echoing around my head like an errant thought. The Moon Goddess's voice was like a babbling brook, a soothing current of a deep mezzo-soprano that made my muscles relax. "Go to your lover, for war comes for him. The seat of the Moon lies in the fall of the Eclipse. A new moon is the dark beginning, for all that is new must first be born of darkness."

Leia told him. Emily was trembling. Her face darkened. She was gasping for air as she blabbed some words the two couldn’t understand. Thunder started to clap, and birds started chirping as the rain poured in a bit. Mysterious sounds were intensifying; the hunters and rouges were whimpering. The moon disappears "Monitus ut interfaces inclement." (Warning: ruthless killing) Emily said it repeatedly until she felt her body weaken and something in her womb kicked in. She was panting and gasping for air as the light surrounding her body disappeared.

I stood there for a long time, my body still trembling, my chest aching worse than before. Grief and pain does terrible things to your judgment. That’s what my mother used to say. I pulled my dress back into place, my fingers clumsy and numb, and I started walking. I didn’t know where I was going. I didn’t care. Because the truth was simple. No one wanted me. Not my pack. Not even the moon goddess, who couldn’t be bothered to give me a mate. And now, not even a stranger who’d fucked me against a tree and left me like I was nothing.
