"It wasn't that bad, really." I followed him into the car, utterly exhausted from the day's shoot. The driver thoughtfully adjusted the air conditioning, making the car comfortably warm, even though I was only wearing a short-sleeved top. I glanced at the driver in the front seat, hesitated for a moment, then couldn't resist leaning into Aidan, resting my head on his shoulder. "I had such a shock today! Summer actually told me Julian liked me!" Aidan raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"

“Summer, did you bump your head somewhere? Have you forgotten the people you were talking about have known you since you were three?” “Forget it, you won't understand,” she sighed and turned to her husband. “Tell me you understand, love.” “I do.” I coughed, “Liar.” Ethan's glare lacked heat as he tried not to laugh. Summer huffed like she had given up on us. “I don't know what I did to suffer like this.” “Let's just focus on the meeting darling,” Ethan said, petting her gently. “Alright.” I opened my notepad. “First things first, are we doing an all out event or just a family affair?”

“Cut the bullshit. We both know you’re not capable of falling in love. That’s like asking you to climb Everest without oxygen.” Before I can respond, a bright pink G-Wagon rolls up the driveway and stops right in front of us. The door swings open. Summer steps out in a tiny leather skirt and a leopard-print top that barely contains her tits. Her long blonde hair flows down her back as she pulls off her sunglasses. “Babeee!” She squeals, rushing straight at me. She leaps into my arms, wrapping herself around me like a damn vine. “I’ve missed you soooo much!”

June and the morning at the water's edge and the way he looked at her that first day on the deck, dripping and unguarded. The slow accumulation of a summer. The key on the silver ring. Christmas Eve and the fire and three words he'd said like they'd always been true. What she wanted. What she was no longer afraid to want. What she wanted her life to look like — not in the abstract, not someday, but in five years, specific and real, with him in it.

And yet… the thought of being forced to spend every single day with Bella made me want to storm out of the room. After spending most of the day getting sun tanned at the beach we decided to go home. On our way home I replayed the events of the previous day in my head, the image of Linc and Sandra doing the gross stuff I saw them doing kept flashing. God how I wanted to get rid of that memory. I said I wasn't going to think of them this summer but come on, a relationship of almost three effing years and a best friend of like since foever, you just can't get rid of the memories that fast.

I played the loving best friend part and fake cried when I got to the hospital and consoled Ben as he was crying, we waited until surgery when the doctors gave the news that the baby died and Luna Summer was brain dead and everyone screamed and wailed. Ben growled in anger and I cried before he hugged me saying, "I know you love her, I promise you, we will find out who did this." Two weeks passed and Ben was still holding on hoping that it was a dream and Summer would wake up, I even got Beta Rush to talk him into letting her go, the pack was mourning and he signed the papers to finally take her off life support. Steven's Pov I slowly opened my eyes, feeling drained and unenthusiastic. The buzzing sound of my phone was annoying, and it had pulled me out of a deep sleep. The remnants of last night's exhaustion still lingered in my body, making me groaned tiredly. The first thing I saw as I opened my eyes was her beautiful face, up close to mine. Her dishevelled hair covered part of her stunning face. As I gazed at her, my mind went numb, and I couldn't resist the urge to gently tuck a stray lock behind her ear.

And the photo of them sharing a lunchbox on set didn't have any dining atmosphere, let alone intimacy. As she continued to read, she couldn't help but laugh. She immediately called Calvin.
