She must have sensed I was holding back because she asks, “Do your siblings live elsewhere?” I sigh. I don’t think it’s a secret that I have twelve brothers. I might as well tell her. “I do. Twelve brothers that I have never met,” I say.

It was like there was an ominous cloud hanging over me and I couldn’t shake it. It didn’t help that my nerves were on hyperdrive as today was the day my other brothers were supposed to arrive. Rex still didn’t know who my father had sent, and it was driving him nuts. Apparently, my mother had been very busy over the centuries, and I have a total of one hundred and nine brothers, that Rex knew about. We didn’t know when they were supposed to arrive, so the wait was torture. What if they didn’t like me? Or worse, what if they wanted to kill me? Would their arrival be to help us or will they be the ones to help destroy us?

She's too old to actually be adopted, but she's one of my girls. All of my brothers are hooked up. And I have Amara, Carys, and Jessa and Nico's biological daughter now too. So..." he tipped his head back, closed his eyes, moved his mouth as he popped fingers out as he silently counted. "Seven girls. And now you. So eight in total.
