I had to rely much on my instincts since this was a journey I had never embarked on. Jasmine padded ahead of me, her soft growls and quiet steps the only thread tying me to the path. I held tightly to her harness, feeling every small twitch and shift in her movements. She was calm and steady. She was a good dog. Camelia hadn’t explained why Jasmine was needed, only that she would guide me in ways no human could. I had trusted her. I just had to.

“Let the howl of our pack be heard across the land. Tonight, we bring justice to those who have wronged us. Tonight, we rescue Emma.” The wolves let out a collective howl, their voices melding into a symphony of determination. Clyde led the way, his senses attuned to Emma's scent and voice. He could feel her pain intensifying, her pleas growing more desperate. It fueled his urgency, pushing him to move faster, to gather his pack, and embark on the dangerous journey ahead.

With one last nuzzle to his mate, Darius took off, his bear paw hitting the ground with a powerful stride, leading the way into the depths of the forest. John felt the rush of wind against his fur, the earth beneath his paws propelling him forward. The rest of the group followed suit, their various animal forms blending seamlessly into the natural surroundings. John ran alongside them, feeling the exhilaration of freedom coursing through his veins. He felt safe and loved, surrounded by his pack, each member united in their shared journey.

His closeness, warmth, and powerful frame provided a sense of security. Until David stopped, they kept on walking. "In my opinion, this is enough." Anna looked at the little distance they had covered and gave him the side eye. She said, "I feel fine," as she resisted going back to her residence at that moment. She shouted, "Look!" as a huge golden retriever loped leisurely up the shore. He's stunning, isn't he? The dog's gait was like a moving poem, with deliberate, leisurely hops, his long, golden locks cascading down his youthful frame.

Crossing further across the river and losing his trail in the direction of his destination. Both Ethan and Dixon searched for their mate scouring both the grounds, outside and inside the herd to no avail. When they had a trace of her they lost it and couldn't find her on the ground. She was not walking. When they met again they were both as they were at the beginning. No result and exhausted. They had been running without results. -Let's not stop- Even though Dixon's paws ached he had no intention of stopping, he would find Clara, no matter what, so he gave the order to the wolves around him.

Now, the world was peaceful. I pushed the dog hard for several hours, wanting to make the waystation before we had to make camp for the day. The December sun was more of twilight than full day. I longed for the longer days of spring. When we got to the way station, the dogs would be able to rest for a full night before we even considered pushing on. An image of Makya in the waystation, by the fire, while I slipped under furs, heated my cheeks. “Eileen!” yelled Makya, jarring my mind back to the trail, where the dogs were heading for a sharp curve.

With the flames closing in behind her as she entered, Katie looked around for any sign of the dog. Moving carefully Katie looked around for a safe way to move around. Just then she heard a soft whimper close by. Katie moved closer to the sound and finally found a tired Dalmatian laying under a table. " It's ok boy I've got you." Katie says to the dog as she moves slowly, careful not to startle the animal further. Making sure he has no injuries and is safe to move. Katie lifts the dog and makes her way back to the back door. The smoke was thick and Katie coughed as the air became unbearably thick. Then as Katie got outside and breathed in a gulp of fresh air. Everything went black.

With Jim on speaker, I tell him, “I made it back and I’m waiting for the garage door. Damn! I’ve never seen so many dogs!” The door clears the cab and I put it into reverse and back up as fast as I can. There are dogs everywhere, barking and jumping on the bed of the truck and clawing at the windows. I floor us out of the driveway, flinging them off the bed. Yelping could be heard as a few go under my tires, along with a sickening crunch of broken bones. I see Jim in the rearview mirror following close behind as I take off. We get out of the neighborhood and I have him pass me so I can follow after him.

“Okay, I’ll let you walk a little farther, ugly dog!” Seeing that Jake was not looking, the dog that Polly bumped into sent signals to his pack. Immediately, three dogs started to walk behind Polly, two more followed, one on each of his side, and three more dogs in front of him. Jake looked at the direction where he saw Polly last. He craned his neck, he tiptoed, he stepped on a pile of hollow blocks to get a better view but he still could not find him. Jake couldn’t believe that the ugly dog pulled another one on him. First, he could get terminated from his job because of him, and now, it looked like he was able to escape.

Sometimes a girl had to go AWOL. It started out like any other adventure, with her dashing off a note and leaving coordinates for her roommate and best friend, Jasmine. Nearly as crazy as Wiley, Jas would roll her eyes, grumble, then load up her Jeep and track Wiley down. Lemming, Wiley’s search and rescue dog, would be helping. It was good training for the dog, and a much needed vacation for Wiley.
