A Great Reckoning: A Novel Novels & Stories

"Let's play a little game, Molly, It's called memory lane- Guards!" I managed to wiggle away from him Just in time to turn and watch the warehouse door open. Men brought in a machine that essentially looked like an electric chair on wheels. My body tensed even more-was he going to torture me now too? You can handle it, I thought to myself. My idea was quickly shut down when I heard soft sobbing. A guard came with a girl I thought would never see again- Paloma. She was just as beautiful as the last time I'd seen her but her eyes were darker- she looked frightened and hungry.

As the screen's icy blue glimmer flickered in the dark hallway, Nathan's hold on the encrypted drive grew more firm. The words burned like an unavoidable prophecy into his consciousness as the transmission pulsed menacingly. "The reckoning is just getting started." — The Architect The steel walls of the warehouse were being howled at by the raging storm outside. The earth trembled beneath them as thunder boomed in the distance. But the real storm was right here, ready to hit in the shadows, not out there.

I looked down at his twisted face and spoke calmly. "Nathan Carter, every move you've made was exactly what I expected." My voice wasn't loud. But the words cut into him like a blade of ice. The police arrived minutes later. A pair of handcuffs snapped shut around his wrists. "Mr. Carter, you are under arrest for attempted transmission of an infectious disease and disorderly conduct." The floating comments completely lost their minds. [AHHHHH! Quinn is incredible! What kind of legendary plot twist is this?!] [I've officially shipped Quinn and Vivian.]

I hope it's worth my time. She uncrossed her legs and recrossed them the other way, taking her time, completely unbothered by my silence, “The company is going bankrupt, Joseph.” She murmured like I’m not aware of ot. “We need to do something, and we need to do it fast.”

I deserve something at least, I deserve everything as compensation for his abuse but I will take enough that can get me out of this country, out of this life permanently. To my dismay, it was my father. A wave of fear covered me. "Papa?" I picked up with shaky hands. "You have two weeks, prepare for The Reclaiming" He ordered cryptically as usual. "I don't understand, is this another burial rite?" I asked confused. "Don't be a dumb bitch like your mother, Nica, The Reclaiming has nothing to do with Richard, he's dead. It's for your new husband, the one willing to take the burden of marrying a widow"

Just as I stepped out of the courthouse, Henry and Carrie rushed toward me. "Timothy! You ungrateful jerk!" Henry roared, pointing at me. Carrie cried and yelled, "The Geller family took you in for three years! Is this how you repay us? Fiona only made a small mistake, and you're sending her to 15 years in jail! Do you have no conscience?" A large crowd of reporters and onlookers had gathered around. Upon hearing their words, angry shouts immediately erupted from the crowd. "A small mistake? Evading tens of billions of dollars in taxes is a small mistake?"

Becca looked at me expectantly waiting to hear what I had to say, while the girls just watched me, Maya playing with her hair and Naya playing with her dress. "When Becca was styling my hair for the ball, I heard Elder Renfrew maltreating his mate," I started, my face darkening at the memory of her painful scream as Elder Renfrew struck her as though she were an animal or slave. I doubt I would ever be able to forget the pain laced in her scream. She must feel unlucky everyday when she wakes up to see that she was married to a breast. Unlike beauty and the beast, this one would never love her.

Additionally, the walls inside the gigantic old warehouse got broken and formed a lot of huge inverted triangles. When the huge and tremendous smoke that covered their whole side vanished, Kai and Von were standing at a distance, facing each other. However, the ground in their side formed an ultra huge inverted triangle and filled until the corners inside the old warehouse, but in their side only. The King, Zaykee, and Astrid's feet on the ground are the only ground that remained since they have a lot of energy and strength that even that monstrous shockwave won't affect them.

" I lose it; I can't keep my temper from flaring. I had a sudden pang of guilt, wondering whether he tried to sleep with me to get this favor. To the papers before him, he averts his gaze. I'm not in the best place mentally; my dad passed away a month ago, and I've been left to cope with everything on my own. I knew a farm was changing ownership, but I didn't know it was this one. There was no acceptable reason to fall behind in work; problems at home were not acceptable, nor were the inherent dangers of working on a farm. The speaker said, "Look, I don't believe we can - " Just ignore my question; it's none of my business. Perhaps a disastrous first evaluation is needed to prove to everyone

He replied with just one word, “GOOD” Zane had waited for his reply for a few minutes, immediately he saw the word “GOOD”, his mind finally felt at peace and he fell to the floor. Mrs. Miller not bearing to take the anxiety anymore snatched the phone from Zane. She read through the texts and released a long sigh she had held, the debt had been paid. “It’s okay now Zane, we’re fine and she’s fine. I told you she could handle herself. Eat your snacks and go to bed.” She said nonchalantly, walking out of the room.
