Bound To My Mate's Step Brother

Bound To My Mate's Step Brother

I spread my hands across the table, demonstrating. "These people feared you long before they decided to throw you into the beyond. They have been afraid since the day a hybrid was created, and no matter how small a hybrid is, they see them as a threat. Coupled with the way Mikael took over, their fear has only been heightened," I argued, then closed my eyes and exhaled deeply.

Mara said. "Someone who could be frightened. Or bought. Or redirected toward a smaller version of the problem." Fenn turned then, and the directness in his face was the particular directness of someone who had decided to give the full account rather than the diplomatic one. "He was afraid of you from the moment you were born. He understood what you carried before you did. And the thing that frightened him most was not the bloodline marker or the constitutional standing." He held her gaze. "It was that you would not be manageable." Mara looked at him across the consultation room.

His fear. I felt it in the middle of the night. A cold weight in my chest. A tightening in my throat. A voice whispering that everything was going to fall apart. I woke with a gasp, my heart pounding, my skin slick with sweat. The room was dark, but I could feel him beside me, his presence a steady warmth in the cold. The fear was like a living thing, coiled around my heart, squeezing tighter with every breath. It was the kind of fear that had no name, no shape, no end. It was the kind of fear that lived in the marrow of his bones. It was the kind of fear that had been with him since childhood. It was the kind of fear that had shaped him into the man he was. It was the kind of fear that had

The Day She Stopped Waiting

The Day She Stopped Waiting

The Eyes Beyond the Door Nobody moved. Nobody spoke. Nobody even seemed capable of breathing. The mountains had fallen silent. Not because the wind had stopped. Not because the world had become peaceful. Because fear had arrived. Real fear. Ancient fear. The kind that existed long before language. Long before kingdoms. Long before humanity itself. The eyes beyond the First Door had opened. And now they were looking back. Elena felt her knees weaken. The sensation struck her immediately. Like her body understood something her mind couldn't.

10 chapters in and I hope it’s second chance book. I love a good “leaving my shitty husband for a better man” plot but sometimes I love a good “I need to get my wife back” plot as well. Sometimes I want to read about how a relationship was pulled back from the brink and I feel this is goi to be it.

BOUGHT BY THE RUTHLESS WILD BILLIONAIRE

BOUGHT BY THE RUTHLESS WILD BILLIONAIRE

He never celebrated because he was always afraid of falling behind. His voice cracked as old memories resurfaced. He remembered being a teenager, lying awake at night, terrified that one mistake would destroy everything. If he failed, he believed his father would look at him with disgust. If he admitted fear or uncertainty, he would lose his father's respect. So he buried every emotion that made him seem human. Pain stayed hidden. Fear became silence. He built a version of himself that looked fearless because he believed it was the only version worthy of love.

Fractured

Ronan Ronan had always believed fear was useful. Fear kept sailors from getting careless. Fear kept kings from trusting too easily. Fear made you look twice before you stepped into something you didn’t understand. This fear wasn’t useful. This fear was a weight wrapped around his ribs, pulling him down.

His eyes were earnest, searching for a glimpse of human fragility beneath the confidence I had cultivated. I looked at the shelves, at the sketches that held silent screams of doubt and late-night panic. “There was a collection in Milan,” I said slowly. “Every garment I finished seemed wrong. The fabric misbehaved, the patterns refused to fit together, and the models… I was terrified I had failed. But I stayed. I finished. And I learned that the work is stronger than our fear.” Elias leaned in closer. “Do you still feel fear?” I smiled faintly. “Yes. But now I recognize it. I do not let it stop me. Fear is a companion, not a jailer.”

And his network had felt it even more. They were waiting. Wanting direction. Needing a spine to stand on. Varian’s voice cut through the storm. “Listen up.” Silence fell like a blade. “Fear built this world,” he said. “Every alley, every office, every throne in this city is held together by someone trembling just out of sight.” He swept his gaze across the room. “But fear built us, too. And we learned to live with it. To shape it. To survive it.”

I paused, letting the silence stretch, letting them wonder. “It’s fear,” I continued, my voice dropping, becoming more intimate, as if I were sharing a secret. “Fear is how the Council built their empire. Fear is what they used to control packs, to turn brother against brother. Fear is why they sent an army to my gates with blades sharpened for my infant son.” I straightened to my full height, my voice rising again, becoming a declaration. “And fear is what I am ending. Today. Right here in this hall.”

Estevan lowered his voice into a whisper. “Her fear?” Estevan sighed. “It’s one of the greatest hindrances in uniting the three pillars of the soul. You see, fear corrupts the mind, prevents the body from taking actions, and takes control over the emotions. If you won’t try overcoming your fear, Larice, you won’t remember anything from your past.”

A slow start, but I understand because the characters and the world needs to be established well. And you did! I'm so so so glad I continued reading since the book really has a very strong middle. So many plot twists! And what I love the most is the magic system! Wew. Great job!

Now this is an epic dragon story I'm looking for! Unlike other stories, you've given your dragons their own culture, government system, livelihood, religion ... we even got a map! You're such an awesome author. PS. I also loved your book Reclaim the Ice Crown. Great job!
