he murmured. With trembling hands, I reached for his tie, my tears flowing freely down my cheeks. "Kiss me… Or… let me kiss you." Tucker's eyes darkened, his calm facade slipping away. He said nothing in response. But before I could react, he leaned in close. Holding the back of my neck, he pressed his lips firmly to mine. There was nothing gentle about his kiss. Instead, it brimmed with a sense of ownership and power. Without hesitation, he pried my jaws apart. His tongue explored boldly, leaving no corner of my mouth untouched.

“The kiss.” “Yes.” His gaze locked onto hers, unreadable. “Your goodnight kiss.” Her breath caught, fury and fear warring inside her. “You’re insane.” “Perhaps.” He leaned closer, so close she could feel his breath against her skin. “But you agreed.” Her heart pounded violently, yet she refused to let him see her crumble. Slowly, with trembling defiance, she rose on her toes and pressed the lightest, quickest kiss to his cheek. Barely a brush.

I’d left a long time ago, and he only called my name out of habit. Christian put his notebook down and stared outside the window in a daze. “You can be cruel sometimes, Nat,” he murmured into the darkness. “Everyone tells me you’re dead, but I don’t believe them. Not for a second. You’re too stubborn for that. We survived the worst life threw at us. Now we finally have everything, and you’re telling me you died? "No. You can’t be dead. You promised we’d have children together. You couldn’t have left me.”

The slightest touch of his fingers on my face stirred something in me. I leaned forward and kissed him. He froze for half a second, like he couldn't believe it was happening, then his hand came up to the side of my face. He kissed me back. It was a deep, wet kiss that screamed passion. FLASH! A sudden bright light zapped before my eyes. I saw Josh and I hugging in front of a lot of people for a moment. Then the scene vanished. I pulled back, gasping. "What?" Josh's eyes went wide with alarm. "What's wrong? Did I rush you?"

I humoured with a wink causing her to release a giggle followed by a heart-wrenching sob. I took slow steps towards her before bending down a little to come face to face with her, "one last time," I muttered before planting a kiss on her soft lips. This kiss was goodbye, filled with sadness and anguish yet a sense of freedom and calm, it was beautiful but it was final and perhaps that's what made it so perfect.

He kissed her. The kiss was slow, almost reverent. Not hungry or desperate, the way their kisses had been before, when every moment might have been their last. This was different. This was a kiss that knew there would be tomorrow, and the day after, and all the days after that. This was a kiss that had time.

I added in a hoarse whisper as Zane leaned down, tilting my chin toward his lips. "Thus," he whispered gruffly. "With a kiss... I die." And Zane Andrews kissed me. Again.

I mumbled, unable to stop the sob that burst from my throat. "If you should ever die Marina, I'll be waiting for you." He choked on his words and began to cough, groaning with pain. Finally the coughing stopped and he turned his head to where he could look up at me. "Kiss me, Marina." With red tears on my cheeks I bent my head and placed my lips upon his. His mouth quivered against mine for only a moment before it went slack. My lips were still on his and my arms still held him tight when I felt him slip away into the waiting arms of his final death.
