The Surrogate’s Blade

The Surrogate’s Blade

I look at the fruit, at the missing knife, at the patient woman with her tablet, and I understand that this is how cages evolve. The warm room offers me tea I do not drink and a chair I do not trust. Comfort, down here, has too many hinges. First bars. Then locks. Then rooms where the prisoner is thanked for cooperating with the door. Progress, they would call it.

Wanderers Of the Night

Wanderers Of the Night

“I haven't seen anyone here in such a long time. Stay. Old Ozakh has a lot to tell you. And I stayed because I was alone too. The prisoner turned out to be a delonh, his hands were chained to the wall, but, despite this, the cell door was locked with three reliable locks. He did not tell me what he was guilty of, he did not tell me why he was doomed to such an existence. He could not die, the Delonchi had already crossed the line of their lives long ago, but left without food, he weakened so much that he could no longer move and could only speak with difficulty. He talked non-stop when I came to him. He was waiting for me, waiting all the time.

The Mafia's Redemption

The Mafia's Redemption

Soon the gate creeks open and the stench in the air is the first to welcome me. There are several cages on both sides as we walk by. Some are empty. Others had decaying bones. But there is one. The one we're standing right in front of. It has two prisoners in it. One of the men ahead, steps in first, pulling out a pocket knife. " Another chance, please. Another chance," the prisoner begs. We all know his pleas are a waste of time. Without the slightest remorse, he sinks the knife into his neck with a deep jab.

Silent Cry

Silent Cry

I can't even succeed a word to utter. "Ah I'm so done with this," he whispers to himself. As if he had experienced this before, a lot of times, and I am just like any other people that took advantage of his state. "You love someone else," he nods, and then he snickered. "Well, too bad, I am not the person to mess with. Don't ever think of running away from this prison you have dared to enter coz I'm never setting you free."

Vampire Covenant Room

Vampire Covenant Room

“Fine, do as you wish, you have me locked up like an animal, and now I won’t live to see my trial. I’ve seen worse during the war, far worse. I should have died many times and survived. I’ve been a prisoner of war, and I’m still here.” “There is a big difference between a prisoner of war and a murderer who kills innocent women and butchers their bodies to be picked over by vultures. You’ll have plenty of time to think over the next three weeks, if you survive that long. Until then, remember, Deputy Smith has access to the jail keys and I’m not here most of the day. He takes turns sleeping overnights when we have prisoners and you two will be alone.” “If he touches me, everyone will know who

I had to know more. “This is great and all,” said one of the prisoners, clutching at the cell bars and rattling them, “but is someone going to let us out?” “No.” I swung around. “You’re staying right where you are,” I growled. “Jane.” Leif sighed. “They haven’t done anything wrong.” “Yes, they have,” I snapped. “If you let them out, Leif, I’ll kill you.” He just sighed again, but left the matter be.

I'm finding this book really hard to follow. I also don't like how we get Jane's perspective, then Hunters perspective but on the same time period. I feel as though I'm just reading the same chapters over. There's too much going on.

My thoughts are interrupted by jailor voice, "Prisoner no.103.. Come out.." I get up from floor with the support of wall.. I walk with a limp towards cell door.. He opened the door instantly as I got near to the door and shouted to me, "Can't you walk a little faster ??.. Come with me.. Today you are going to be released from prison.."

The Fairytale Beauty

The Fairytale Beauty

asked Nadya. "Look at this, honey," I said. I showed my cell phone to Nadya, showing a photo of a prisoner. "He got your blue eyes… but why is he in handcuffs?" "He's going to jail after crashing a mother and child to death," I said. "Then?" "You know? There were girls defending him, there were many, many. They want him to be released from prison." "Why did they do that?"

The Reaper's sons

The Reaper's sons

I don't intend to, but I'm sure I sound more irritated than ever. "Alpha, there's someone trapped in Invictus. Someone he cares about." That damn title again. Don't get me wrong, all this information is important; it could change so many lives and destinies. It's hard to believe, but I don't have enough strength to overcome my own inner turmoil. I must be the most selfish man ever walking the face of Earth. "A woman?" I raise an eyebrow, still staring at the prisoner. When Adrian mentions her, the beast's body freezes, muscles tense, and the smirk disappears from his face.

From Prisoner To Princess

From Prisoner To Princess

How it was the one place I felt safe while surviving in the Slums. "If this place meant so much to you, why haven't you been there in a few months?" I sigh, running a hand through my hair as I debate whether or not I should tell Sky the truth. I mean, who would want a Prisoner for a Princess. Deciding that these last few days Sky has done nothing but helped me, I turn and face him, a sad smile on my face. "Its hard to go anywhere when you are a prisoner." I state, watching his eyes widen in shock.
