Obviously, fist marks covered her, but it was the anger in her eyes that made me proud.
“I don’t understand your feelings.” Brett whispered to me. Everyone heard it, but no one moved.
“Look at this picture, Brett. What do you see?”
“I see me failing. I see blood and a broken girl.”
“No, Brett. You are wrong.” Waking in front of her, I held it up in her face. “That girl… that girl isn’t broken. She was abused, whipped, and was tortured.”
“I know!” Brett growled at me.
“No, Brett. Look at herself. Look harder. Look at your face.”
