Rava faced the bat and said confidently "The answer to your riddle is Thunder" The bat scowl at her. "I can assure you that even if you passed those 2, the remaining one you will fail". "We shall soon see about that Bat, tell us the third and last one". Rala said. "Now the last one. A dagger thrust at my own heart, Dictates the way I'm swayed. Left I stand, and right I yield, To the twisting of the blade. What am I?" "The answer to that is A Lock". Rava said anxiously.

Then the final riddle appeared, more intricate than the others: **"I can be cracked, I can be made, I can be told, and I can be played. What am I?" Cayla’s breath caught. This one was different—so many possibilities. She turned to her group, searching their faces for any sign of inspiration. The emperor’s brows furrowed, and the warriors bit their lips in frustration, clearly struggling. The general, however, looked deep in thought, his eyes narrowing. “I think… I think it’s a **joke**,” the general said slowly. “A joke can be cracked, made, told, and played. It fits.”

More riddles again. Why isn't the path to finding the truth straightforward???

Tara fumbled with the light switch on the wall, flooding the room with bright yellow light. It was not a storage room. “My workroom,” Tara said, gesturing to the shelves lining the walls. The shelves were chock-full of tiny glass bottles with stoppers. Each bottle had a label. Aaron peered at the shelf closest to him. The label on the very first bottle read: TO MAKE YOUR ENEMY CROAK LIKE A FROG. Aaron winced. Hunching his shoulders, he shoved his hands in the pockets of his jeans. From the corner of his eye, he could see Tara looking at him; there was a twinkle in her eyes that told him she was having one on him.

Caitlin could hear Scarlet shouting and laughing with joy as they flew off into the horizon, and could only imagine her thrilled expression. Caitlin thought back again to how they had finally decoded the riddle, of Scarlet’s quick-witted solution. She marveled once again at how intelligent this child was. She had, somehow, managed to trump four adults, had managed to decode the riddle in a fraction of a second. Caitlin had never possibly imagined that the answer to the riddle would come from a child. She had vastly underestimated her: this was a special child. Caitlin felt so fortunate to have found her, and couldn’t help wondering whether they had been destined to meet, whether this had all

Marinetta's scroll read: "I speak without a mouth and hear without ears. I have nobody, but I come alive with the wind. What am I?" She pondered the riddle, her mind racing. After a moment, she smiled. "An echo," she whispered, and the scroll glowed brightly, the words rearranging to form a key. Harley's scroll presented a different challenge: "I can be cracked, made, told, and played. What am I?" He furrowed his brow, thinking deeply. "A joke," he said confidently, and the scroll responded in kind, forming another key. Seraphina's scroll was the most complex: "I am not alive, but I grow. I do not have lungs, but I need air. I do not have a mouth, but water kills me. What am I?"

The horror in my chest tightened, but I couldn’t look away from the altar. Atop the altar was a human skull, its surface marked with strange, precise letters. They formed a perfect square shape on the top of the skull, a palindromic Sator square. The letters were deeply etched into the bones, forming the Latin phrase Sator Arepo Tenet Opera Rotas. I stared at it, horror filling my veins. Nowhere in the books I had read did it mention anything like this during a summoning exam. My heart constricted with the terrifying weight of my mistake.

Four chairs were already occupied. Coyote (still in his zoot suit) lounged sideways in one, boots on the table, dealing cards that flickered between paper and living flame. Across from him sat a woman made of storm clouds and galaxies, eyes like colliding nebulae (Raven, older than stories, trickster of the North). To her left: an enormous serpent whose scales were every color that ever hurt to look at (Quetzalcoatl, the Feathered One, wearing a smile that tasted like sunrise).

Well, the BRIT had a good sense of fashion but you will first notice Thunder for being extra. "Taran... Taran..." Boston, still trying to figure it out. But Thunder cut him off. "Tarantado!" she yelled then burst with laughter. "How to play that game?" I curiously asked as I reached for a nacho on the center table. "You will just ask and your opponent will reply another question. You are not allowed to answer their questions no matter how fast the responses. Don't panic. That's the rule. Taranta means panic and tanong means to question, right?" Thunder raised her hands in finality.
