The newcomer sighed dramatically. "That's disappointing." His black eye seemed to darken further. "You used to like me." Kael's shadows stirred violently. The bond transmitted fragments of emotion. Distrust. Anger. Something deeper. Betrayal. The Sovereign of Oblivion noticed immediately. "Ah." Understanding crossed his face. "You remember more than I expected." The sanctuary trembled faintly. Yet, despite my inner turmoil, the overwhelming fatigue overpowered my resolve. "Please let this be another nightmare," I whispered to the void, clinging to a flicker of hope as my consciousness succumbed to the abyss. The darkness swallowed me whole, and the battle-worn landscape faded into nothingness, leaving me suspended in an endless void of dreams and nightmares. "You can now wake up," Ivory's voice rang through, and I felt a jolt bringing me back to the waking world.
