The Chestnut soup I wanted to bring it at the very start was already half done when I turned to the dessert. I had opted to make Affogato, made with hot espresso poured over vanilla ice-cream which was an all-time favourite and barely required any time. I usually topped it up with whatever I felt like, chocolate shavings and sprinkles today. But being the daring chef I was, I had also chosen to make the classic apple tarte tatin, with gin and juniper, for the adults. The dessert took me almost half an hour to prepare just so but I felt pleased with the outcome.

We were able to make three batches, one of which I packed into a jar for, Adriano. “God, these taste amazing,” Aria moaned, taking a second bite of the cookie she was holding. “Same thing I said the first time,” Alice added. “You can take some home, no need to finish it all here,” I said. “You bet your ass I will. Damn, I need Mom to taste some of these,” she replied. My heart stopped at the thought of, Adriano’s mom eating the cookies I made but I knew the cookies were nice so I didn’t argue.

Katie opens the cookie box, revealing an assortment of intricately decorated treats. “I baked these last night. There’s chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, and some experimental ones with peanut butter and white chocolate.” Carol eyes the cookies eagerly. “You really know how to make a new mom feel spoiled.” Sarah pulls sandwiches from her bag, setting them on the table. “I figured you’d need something savory too. These are chicken salad and turkey avocado.”

She was still laughing as I got in and started to head for Amorino’s. “So what does Amorino’s have for dessert? Remember, I’m not from here.” she asked. I’m not going to point out she’s focused on dessert rather than answering my question about her mom. We can loop back to that later. “Well, they are fantastic. They make great gelato. Not straight from Italy, but still good. They also have macaroons, waffles and crepes with gelato, and then hot drinks like hot chocolate, espresso, and tea.” I explained.

If he had to walk away, he would. “Oh my God,” she squealed and Brian looked over at her. “I have to get some of these!” He walked over to see what she was looking at and nearly choked. “What the hell, Jon?” he asked, looking over at his friend. Jonathon smirked at him. “It’s part of our ‘Too Hot to Handle’ line.” “They’re chocolate cocks,” Brian blurted out. “They are,” Jonathon confirmed, “with chili-flavored cream centers.
