Chapter 21 We started feasting and having conversations in between. There was more than enough food, so much that I feared it was going to be too much for just me to eat. I loved how everything was curated. There were burgers and pizzas, cooked lasagna, and pasta. I didn't know where to begin at first but he urged me to eat to my satisfaction. I was beginning to feel better and for the first time, I didn't feel a wave of sadness from my episodes of overthinking.

Grandpa exclaimed, diving into his meal. "Ye...yes, grandpa. Please, do not worry about it. I will have a more in-depth conversation with Storm regarding this," I replied, my voice trembling slightly. Although I knew my words were laced with falsehoods, I lowered my head and began picking at my food. However, the sight of the greasy bacon, cheese, and other meats caused my appetite to vanish. The mere thought of eating made me feel nauseous again. I set down my utensils and Missus Melinda noticed, prompting her to ask, "Is the food not to your liking, sweetheart?"

The rich aroma of roasted meats, the velvety smoothness of sauces, and the crunch of fresh vegetables all combined to create a symphony of flavors. I found myself enjoying the meal immensely. My embarrassment melted away, replaced by a sense of gratitude. Noel’s POV… I watched Adelynn with a mixture of astonishment and admiration as she devoured her meal with unabashed enthusiasm. It gave me time to calm the knot in my stomach and reel in Phoenix's over baring thoughts. "You be careful tonight. However, knowing what lies ahead of me the following day, I finished up quickly. “Maggie.” I called, pushing the empty plate to the side as I wiped the corners of my mouth with a napkin.
