The rain outside hammered the windows hard enough to blur the world.
Matrix reached for the photograph, slid it from the file, and tucked it into his jacket pocket.
“I’ll need time,” he said. “Information. Access.”
“You’ll have it,” the hunter replied. “We’ve got eyes everywhere. You’ll report to me. Code name Finch.”
Matrix’s mouth curved—half amusement, half hunger. “Finch, huh? I like birds that can’t fly far.”
He turned toward the door, already planning, already deciding how close he’d have to get to her to make the kill easy.
