I opened my eyes fully and looked down at the sweet child peeking sleepily up at me. "You hurted my daddy," Miguel mumbled in confusion. My heart dropped and I shook my head. I wasn't completely responsible for their deaths. I mean their father died in the stupid Iraq war and their blonde haired mother hung herself after getting the news. I dealt with death but not the way the individual died, that was solely on those fate bitches. "This is bullshit, let's go, don't ever forget about me little man, we will meet again in the future, this I swear," I growled. I moved him off me, patting his head sweetly and hurried past Maria cursing me while holding a cross up at me.

“After we get home, I swear I’m taking the last months of your pregnancy off, and we can finally feel normal again.” His words, though light, filled me with warmth. I couldn’t help but smile, imagining what normalcy would feel like after everything that had happened. My enemy was dead, and even though I was the one who had killed him, I didn’t feel upset. Killing someone always brought a mix of fear and sadness, but I had done it to save Aegis. I couldn’t regret that. He was supposed to take me back to the packhouse so I could tell Aiden the news…” Aiden wrapped me in his arms, I buried my face in his chest and inhaled deeply, his scent wrapping around me like a blanket. “What ended up happening?” I finally asked, looking up at Aiden, my voice cracking slightly. “Where’s Allen?” Aiden looked hesitant upon answering that question; he looked at King Bennet who gave him a slight nod. Clearing his throat, Aiden looked back at me. “He’s dead,” Aiden told me. I was stunned.

Then she walked up to me, viciously grinding her foot into my wound, using my blood as ink to press down her handprint. After finishing all this, she revealed a cruel smile. "Let him go," she ordered the security guards before saying to me, "John, you know? Your look of despair was just like your mother's before she died. On the day I went to court to declare you dead, I deliberately delivered the good news to your mother. Who would have thought that she'd be so frail? She passed away due to a heart attack." Nora did not have an ounce of pity on her face, only provocation.
