I sat on the floor against the wall. Watching them together. Jake told Alex stories about hockey. About his own childhood. About funny things that happened at work. His voice was low and soothing.

I smile inwardly feel him close to me. "Soooooo, What do you guys do?" Abby can't help herself. Jake glances at Alpha and then back at her waiting on him to answer. " I own this club." Alpha speaks up. "Well, I woke for him." Jakes answers half way truthfully. "Ohhh." Abby says and before she can stick her foot in her mouth the cocktail waitress returns setting down our shots and the two beers.

Jacke's POV We would be lying through our fucking teeth if we said that what Alex had told us wasn't at least mildly concerning. I mean, it was one thing for an Archdemon to talk about fighting death, because we had danced that dance and came out on top simply because of Jake's will to live; Alex on the other hand, Alex wasn't like us, she was a werewolf and had an afterlife that was blissful waiting for her when her time came.

Albert did not have a family. The years Alex lived with Mr. Albert could be said to be auspicious years. He was taught various ways of doing business. Alex also no longer works as a warehouse clerk but works at the cashier's desk to observe every customer who enters Mr. Albert's sports equipment store. For four years Alex worked at the store until he graduated from senior high school. After graduating Alex realized that he could not work at Mr. Albert's store. He wanted to continue his education to college and he told Mr. Albert if he got a scholarship from the university of his choice.
