“I’m perfect.” The bathroom door creaked open, and Laila stepped out wearing the microscopic halter dress. The neckline dipped dangerously low, the hemline attempted to migrate north with every movement, and Laila tugged desperately at both ends like she was fighting gravity itself. “Oh GOD, I look ridiculous,” she groaned, cheeks burning. Amalthea's POV I stared at Nicholson hoping that this was some bad dream or a sick joke...willing myself to believe anything but accept that this was true. Nicholson's eyes kept on flashing and it almost seemed like he was trying to fight off his wolf. He closed his eyes for a second as his jaw ticked, before he let out a sigh and opened them, his eyes back to their usual soul sucking black. "I'll make this easier for you, Thea. I, Alpha Nicholson Lycett, of Ravenclaw pack, reject you, Amalthea Crawford, as my mate and I sever the mate bond between us." Nicholson muttered the words like it was the easiest thing in the world.

Leo was waiting at the outer gate with two warriors behind him and enough gifts piled near the entrance to make the whole thing look like he was the Godfather. Flowers. Wrapped boxes. A carved cradle toy. A silver rattle. A folded blanket too rich-looking. I hated all of it immediately. Leo smiled when he saw us coming, and there it was again. That polished, pleasant expression that somehow made my skin crawl more than open hostility would have. “Alpha Kaden,” he greeted smoothly. Then his eyes shifted to me and Lily. “Luna Amelia. I heard the big news, congratulations.” I didn’t smile and he noticed.

I stood before him, helpless and vulnerable, as his guards closed in, their eyes gleaming with a mix of disdain and anticipation. Just as the guards were poised to deliver the punishment that awaited me, a voice sliced through the tense atmosphere. It was Leah, her wicked grin and malevolent gaze fixed upon me. "Oh, how delightful," she sneered. "A mistake deserving of a severe penalty, don't you think, Liam?" Alpha Liam's gaze shifted to Leah, a subtle hint of amusement dancing in his eyes. "Indeed, Leah," he responded, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Perhaps it's time to teach her a lesson she won't soon forget."

He dodged just in time. I expected him to. My elbow caught him in the chin. I followed with another heavy hand to his neck. Two quick jabs and he fell to the ground clutching his throat. Despite being a princess, I trained with the pack warriors. I took one last look at the tall wooden doors and pushed them open. The first voice that greeted me was the Devilclaw emissary saying the most dreadful things to my father in his throne room. “…you’re simply the weakest alpha in the wild west. I mean—”

Almost immediately after I hear a text come back through, I haven’t even taken a bite of my food yet. ‘Alora: Well, only one restless week and then I am all yours, My Alpha. Also, that smile was the greatest. Sweet Dreams <3 ;) ‘ This girl is going to be the end of me. I can’t be a big bad ruthless Alpha when my Luna is this sweet.
