Then, Vermont Snyder appeared on the screen. He still had that carefree, playful look, smiling at the camera, “Congrats on getting another year older. I remember when we first met, you were just this tall. Now you’re taller, better looking, and richer than me. I’m proud but also jealous. So, no birthday gift from me. I’ll save it for your wedding gift, for your kids’ diapers and formula.” The video went black for a few seconds, seemingly ending. Just as Keegan was about to speak, Vermont's voice sounded from behind him, “Seriously? You believed that? I must have spoiled you too much!”

Anyway, this is Keiran, Keiran this is my little brother Valentine."

“Do I really have to tell him?” Trish snorted. “He’s sure to notice eventually,” she pointed out. She frowned. “Do you know who the father is?” “Yeah,” I admitted. “It’s this guy back in North Carolina. Jesse. We were really good friends when we were younger, and when I went back, well. Things happened, I guess.” I didn’t really want to get into all of the details of that right now. They seemed to accept that. Just like me, they were all thinking of the bigger picture here. “So if he’s back in North Carolina,” Trish said slowly, “that would make you, what, two or three months pregnant?”
