She got cold and looked down at herself. It was evening, she was wearing her silk pajamas, a present from her father, it consisted of shorts and a top. She wore nothing underneath.

The drive over to the apartment was filled with an uncomfortable silence. Unasked questions hung in the air like a thick fog. Beads of sweat prickled on the back of the drivers neck as he too was smothered by the tension in the car. The seconds felt like minutes as the road seemed to stretch longer and longer before her eyes. Letting her eyes close, Thea suppressed a sigh as she leant her head against the window, she ignored the drumming of her head against the window as they drove over the bumpy terrain. Bellamy’s words playing on repeat in her head, ‘like our souls recognise each other’.

Too much silence. And no voice to scream the truth.

*****************************POV: Claire********************** --- There’s a certain kind of silence that doesn’t feel safe. Not the comfortable, blanket-wrapped kind that comes after a long day. Not the sweet, post-rain hush where everything smells like earth and renewal. No, this silence is sharp. Like a knife held just out of view. And that morning, it followed me.

Everyone quietened down. The silence was deafening.

I said. The silence that enveloped the Astropheles was a new kind of silence. It wasn't the tense hush of hiding, the profound void of the Stillness, or the grim quiet of a battlefield after the fight. This was a deep, resonant, and utterly peaceful silence. The silence of a story that had reached its natural, satisfying conclusion. The universe hummed along without us, a symphony of self-sustaining narratives, and we were finally, truly, audience members.
