He immediately shoved Theo off and barked, "What did you just call me?"

Maya put a gentle hand on Bella's arm, steadying her. "You smell nice," Tom murmured sleepily. "Like Mommy's fancy coffee." "Thank you," I managed, not daring to move. "Mommy says smelling nice is important," Tom continued, his eyes drooping. "It means you take care of yourself." "Your mommy is very smart," I said quietly. "The smartest," Tom agreed. "She knows everything. Even about penguins." By the time I finished the book, Tom was asleep, his small body warm against mine and his breathing deep and even. I sat frozen, terrified to move and wake him, desperate to memorize every second of this moment.

Ava hesitated, then slid a finger beneath the fold and pulled out a single sheet of paper. The handwriting was neat but quick, the kind of script that looked like it had been scrawled in a hurry, as though every second mattered. It read: Tomorrow, do not take the shortcut home. If you do, he will never wake up. There was no greeting. No signature. Just one word at the bottom, pressed harder into the paper than the rest, as though the pen had nearly torn through.

She opened it. “Hi, Ava,” Tom said as he walked in. He had a jacket on over his pajamas. He was holding a book. “I hope you’re not tired. I was hoping you could finish the book you began reading to me the other night – especially since I can’t get back to sleep.”

suggested Amber. Grayson’s icy eyes shot in her direction, “I don’t need a fucking babysitter. Besides my mother already has a prior obligation tomorrow!” He again tried to maneuver himself across the floor, but he couldn’t keep the chair going straight. It knocked against the chair shaped like an ice cream sandwich. Leo’s warehouse was full of fun touches like that, such as a rug shaped like scrambled eggs, and taco shaped throw pillows. “Fuck it, we’ll just reschedule it!” said Leo.

It was a journey he never would have taken alone, but with Brandon by his side, he felt a renewed sense of strength and resilience. Because of Liam's unstable emotions, Brandon didn't let him cook for everyone, and he did the cooking because the gas stove left by the previous tenant still had contents. Liam also told them that three months before the end of the world happened, the tenants of their house moved. That was also one of the reasons why Liam took a part-time job. Because they can no longer support both Liam and Jarvis in their studies.

Liam started singing the Teletubbies song at once when he began to walk backward, and I just had to give him a good beating, making him laugh even more. During dinner, it was like any ordinary dinner with your family and the boy who you fell over heels with. I thought Daddy would question his past when I told him about it. But he didn't and questioned his plans. Liam plans to open a computer shop where anyone can use the computer publicly. He got that idea because many people play online, and Liam and his brothers love playing video games.

"It's okay to fear what you don't know, but why not celebrate what you do?" I wondered, before poking his other shoulder, drawing familiar red eyes up to me. The other two walked up to join us, a quiet settling over the area. These three men who were perfect strangers felt like dearest friends. It confused me, but the black-haired one kept reading his book with a calm smile on his face, the red-haired one followed me over to the fountain to play with the water, and the brown-haired one watched from the bench. "She CAN tame the three. Now we just need a link to her world in the future. Let's do what we can."

"And me too?" David looked at him. "What about the girl you said you started chatting with on Clash of Clans?" "We're still just talking." George turned to Tom. "So. How about it?"
