“I’m being serious right now.” Alaric straightened, putting a bit of distance between them. He could see the frustration etched on her face as she turned to look at him. Her expression gave him pause. He had only been trying to tease her, not take things further. His grin faded, and his brow furrowed slightly in response.

Nate had clearly taken the bait, and his reaction was entertaining everyone far too much. "I would love to go with you all," she said, much to Nate’s displeasure. He looked down at her as though she had betrayed him. "You’re mostly out anyway, so it shouldn’t be much of a problem," she added, offering him her innocent smile, one that usually softened him, but failed to do so this time. Instead of replying, he got up abruptly and marched off in angry strides. Everyone had a good laugh as soon as he left. Sera was in her room, gently applying the special oil Ara had given her to her stomach to prevent any chance of stretch marks.

Sera got ready when she got out and she stood in front of her. "I didn't talk to you earlier, I am glad you came back safe." She smiled at her which irritated her. She doesn't like seeing Sera smile. She realized that what she was doing wasn't that bad for Sera to still be able to smile. She badly wants to erase that, like how the sweet smile on her lips disappeared. She wants Sera to never smile again.

My mouth parted, then closed, before I was still unable to find the words. Alaric's face turned serious. "Why is your face so red if it isn't a fever?" He asked reaching out for my chin. I evaded his touch, backing away. "I am fine...it's nothing," I said, scrambling away. He grabbed my wrist, pulling me closer. His face was so close that I could feel his breath on my face. My heart started beating slowly but super loud in my head. Why did he have to look so charming up close? Alaric inspected my face until a dazzling smile crossed his lips. His voice was low but loud enough for me to hear.

I exclaimed, my eyes wide with embarrassment as I looked at the drenched fabric. Tariq glanced down at his soaked shirt and then back at me, his expression unreadable for a moment. But then, a slow grin spread across his face. “It’s fine, really,” he said, shaking his head in amusement. “I guess I needed a shower anyway.” I bit my lip, trying not to laugh again, but the sight of Tariq dripping water was too much. “Are you sure?” Tariq shrugged and began unbuttoning his shirt, revealing the sculpted muscles beneath. “I’ll just change and be right back.”
