Appealing To His Gaze
The one that says we see you, and we know you’re open even if you don’t.
When one of them finally speaks, his tone is casual, polite, like he’s asking for a light instead of my attention.
“Sorry,” he says, smiling. “Didn’t mean to intrude. Just wanted to say—you look like someone who could use company.”
I almost laugh at how accurate it is. “You have no idea.”
The other leans in slightly, more confident. “We’re not looking for a one-night disaster,” he says.
“We’re serious. We like intention.”
