The first thing that Lila did when she recovered from her fainting spell was to focus on her surroundings. They looked familiar. Yet, her still muddled mind couldn’t quite place them. It took several minutes of study before she realized that she was back in the wing of the vampire castle where she and Jasper had spent so many months. The room was closer to the lab than the one she’d occupied before her escape and much smaller. She’d used it to nap in a few times when she wanted a brief break from the lab but didn’t want to be too far from Jasper in case he needed her.

Spider said. I had just noticed he was being followed by a small team of hackers. "Spider, speak English." I opened the door to my office. It was a level above the other cubicles and work stations, but it was built in a way that I could watch over them from above with its large windows. "The blood sacrifices," Spider mentioned. "Yes, about that?" "It's unusual. The killing patterns don't check out. It's quite different from the rituals of the Court of Black Roses."

JASPER I blinked my eyes open and sat up, rubbing the sleep from my face. This wasn’t my room. My Spider-Man nightlight wasn’t glowing. My big, fluffy blanket wasn’t here. I looked around. The bed was too big, the walls were gray, and the air smelled weird, like old socks and something burnt. Where was I? I slid off the bed, my bare feet touching the cold floor. My tummy felt funny, like when I got scared watching scary cartoons. I walked to the door and pushed it open. The hallway was long and empty.

“That’s—” “Spiders!” Bjorn shrieked. I looked down and felt sick. Thousands of tiny spiders had begun to pour out of the crack in the ground. They were small and quick and glistening, boiling up out of the dirt in a wave that spread wider with every second, swallowing the grass, climbing over each other in their hurry to reach us.

The quiet brought more discomfort than the embarrassment of singing aloud. “The itsy-bitsy spider climbed up the waterspout. Down came the rain and washed the spider out. Out came the sun and dried up all the rain . . . ” Lily froze when she heard the voice. And the itsy-bitsy spider climbed up the spout again.

Once lost searching for a person, she chose to climb on her own with the help of a ladder. Luckily, the ladder was in the next lane, where that older man had left her before heading for lunch. She grabbed the heavy wooden pieces and dragged them to their location to take out the respective books. Without giving it a second thought, she climbed to the fourth stair, but her hands could not handle the spine of this book. She climbed two more stairs, and with both hands, she took this heavy piece of wisdom out and seemed quite happy with her achievements. Her smile evaporated when she saw a spider crawling on the book, heading towards her finger.

She licked them and the shards crawled at each other’s head producing a giant and it birthed a hundred pumpkins. Cassy flinched holding the top of the fireplace wall. A prickling sensation on her hand caught her attention. When she peeped at it, a spider was slurping her blood and injecting his poison into her. How worse would it become? “Get off… Let me go…,”

Josh POV The elves woke us at dawn and the frustration that had been flowing through me yesterday returned, along with a new feeling of dread and resignation. We thanked Chieftain Wallace and Elder Myles, and now Allie and Mulberry were crying and hugging. Mulberry had brought along Spidey, and I noticed that there were plenty of elves who were equally wary of Spidey as I was, which satisfied me. Despite what the girls thought, I wasn’t a sook for being terrified of a giant fucking spider–it was just common sense to be scared of him.

I barely had time to groan or even check what tripped me because what I saw in front of me made all the blood in my veins run cold. Sitting only inches away from my face was a fully developed human skull with hollow eyes, staring at me like it had been waiting for me and just when I thought I couldn’t be anymore traumatized, a spider the size of a soft ball crawled out of one socket, and moved with a slow, deliberate grace before heading straight for me. Immediately, I scrambled backward on my hands and heels, my scream piercing the air until my hands hit something jagged and sharp.

When suddenly in a dark corner, a fly is caught in a spider's web. As disgusting as ever, but before the spider can reach the fly it is snapped up by a gecko that later will probably be caught by a mouse. A displeased expression forms on my delicate face. If I get rich, I promise that this will be the first place I’m going to fix. It’s the only peaceful spot in this sequin castle. I start walking towards the exit, dodging the stacks of abandoned books when a sudden thought crosses my mind. -Mister Bunny!-
