Her eyes met mine.
I walked over, kicked off my shoes, and climbed into bed.
“Hold me,” I said.
She didn’t say a word—just opened her arms.
We lay there, quiet, breathing the same air.
After a while, I asked, “Do you think I’m a psychopath?”
Jessica didn’t hesitate. “Yes.”
I chuckled. “Do you hate me for it?”
