I blink at him. "Dressed? Hunter didn't mention we were going anywhere."
"We are here to do our jobs, Wifey," the head groomer says, and there's just a hint of amusement in his voice. "Don't make it hard, alright?"
The word 'Wifey' hits different this morning.
It should probably bother me—the possessiveness of it, the way it's meant to be demeaning, the way it strips away my identity and replaces it with a title. But deep down, underneath all the things I'm supposed to feel, there's this flutter in my chest.
