“I was back there, helpless, knowing what was coming but unable to stop it from happening.” “Stop what?” Say the words. Say them out loud. “The amputation. I woke up in the hospital and the docs said my leg was gone. But I felt it. I knew it was there but no one would listen to me. They called it phantom limb pain but they were all a bunch of fucking liars. I fought so hard to get out of that goddamned hospital bed. I couldn’t breathe and when I finally sucked air in, all I could smell was dirty flesh and blood and antiseptic. Then the nurse put me in restraints. That much is true. That really happened when I woke up. But then the dream…changes.

It would probably take really long to finish, but I wanted it done sooner rather than later. April had called and told me about her doctor visit. The doctor told her she could do her physical therapy at her pack, but that he had no experience making or placing prosthetic limbs. He referred her to a hospital that was a few hours away, that had the most experience dealing with these types of injuries. She would have to lie about some things though, it was too fucking unbelievable that she had just lost the leg. Shit, her leg looked like she was born that way. The scar had almost completely disappeared by now.

He lived, but the left side of his body was heavily damaged. He lost his leg below the knee and his arm." "Your dad was crippled?"

She had definitely seen them when escaping… She struggled to process the words and shrieked, "What amputation? My legs are fine! They just hurt a little. How could you amputate them? What's your name? I'm filing a complaint!" As if wanting to prove something, she fought through the pain and struggled into an upright position. Then, she yanked the blanket away. She let out a piercing scream. "My legs! Where are they?" There were only two ugly stumps of flesh under the blanket.

Daisy blinked at him. If she said that this man became depressed because of his lover's betrayal, then it would be acceptable, a person with a strong heart, no matter how strong, still contained weakness inside, it would be understandable if he collapsed, but if he was self-conscious about his legs, she would look down on him a little, out there, many people with amputated arms and legs could still live normally, why couldn't he, as if paralysis was some kind of terrible disease. Atlas was constantly moved by her words, what could he do if he wanted to do it? What could he do? When working with his mind, he finds no difficulty.

Now, he was a shell of himself, and she moved to the seat at his side, wiping a tear off her cheek. “You look like shit,” she whispered to him and earned a smile. “I feel like it,” he whispered back, “I heard one of the doctors say something about amputating my leg. Don’t let them take my leg.” “Sonny, this is why you don’t fuck around with diabetes and wounds.” “Look at us, a pair of babies,” he muttered and reached a weathered hand to wipe a tear off his own cheek. “Ruthie would have beaten me into the dirt,” he admitted sadly.

She bathed me and sometimes I wished it were Raina who was bathing me. I’d told her to give me wipes so I could wipe in between my thighs and my anus. Damn it! I gritted my teeth so hard as I tried to push myself up. The doctor already told me I shouldn’t try to use my legs to walk, else I might risk breaking my bones which might lead to an amputation. Everything feels so useless without my legs. So I’m definitely not gonna be part of the teams that played in the tournament. Tears poured from my eyes even when I tried not to cry but anyway.

The police officers and the staff from the funeral home came forward. They attempted to pull Mom and Adrian away from my body. Mom clung so tightly to me that several people had to work together to drag her off. She struggled against their grip, shrieking like a lioness who'd lost her cub. My body was carefully removed.
