I lied, well it's technically the truth. "Ain't you gonna get your lunch?" Angel asked. "I'll get it for her since she seems tired. What do you want?" Hottie asked and I told him. When I put my mother down, I told her what I was going to do, and she laughed and promised to help me. Angel reached for the jam, red strawberry glop plopping thick. "Easy, tiger. Don't want a crime scene." I handed her a spoon, grabbing plates. Milk for her, black coffee for me, strong, no frills. I poured a mug, the steam curling up like a question mark, and took a large sip. Bitter bite, but it felt grounding. Angel smeared jam wild, bread a red mess. Licked her finger, eyes on me. EAT WITH ME? "Twist my arm." I sat beside her, crunching the less-burnt edge. Sweet-tart burst, better than vending machine bars. "Not bad for a fire hazard, right? Then, she said to Jay with a sincere expression, “Sir Ares, can I report my plan to you now?” Jay glanced at the untouched steak on her plate with a dark expression.
