Yoel had already planned to get rid of his companies and assets slowly, and the person receiving them was me. I had already learned about all the things that had happened recently. For example, after I fainted, Yoel exposed the painting Rosa had stolen, and it destroyed her reputation. He didn't take back the art gallery and all the paintings and jewelry he had given to her. Instead, he burned everything to the ground. As the flames burned, he said with a smile, "You've messed with a devil, Rosa. No one else will donate their kidneys to you now, so you should just wait for your death in pain. You're the one who has fallen from grace."

Rather just digging as if I'm fighting for my own life. My shovel finally hits something firm. I continue to dig, creating a much larger hole around me. I brace myself, and carefully but powerfully slam the shovel into the top of the coffin. The shovel manages to break the wood. I toss the shovel aside, and pull up on the slats of wood. I manage to get a few loose, and toss them aside. I kneel down closer to the body in the casket.

Please, forgive us. Angela stares at Soralina as she cries her heart out, knowing exactly that it is no longer the fear of death that has her crying like this, but the memory of her brother. The brother that she killed. Slowly but surely, Angela walks towards Soralina before kneeling down in front of her, looking at the girls face who cries with her eyes shut tight.

“It doesn’t cure anything.” “No. This isn’t the cure.” I looked at her and the look on her face hit me hard. She looked defeated. Angela lowered her eyes back to the papers. She read every line another time. As though hoping the words would change. They didn’t. She reached the final copied page. I watched the color slowly drain from her face. Her lips parted. “… those who failed…” She barely made the words audible. “… never survived beyond nineteen.” Nobody answered. There wasn’t anything to add. The words were already there. She placed the page back onto the table with trembling fingers.

However, Angelina didn't find any beauty in it even though she was supposed to. It has been a few days since Angelina received Claire's ashes. She has been having that look on her face for the past few days. She hasn't been leaving her room or talking to anyone. It's as if she has been trying to stay away from the rest of the world. Angelina couldn't bring herself to go to work. It seemed as though everything around her had lost meaning. She had lost some weight too due to bad eating habits and her hair was a tangled mess.

Not what any rational being would consider a sure thing - but a helluva lot better than sitting on her plastiflesh ass waiting for help to arrive. All of which explained why Angelina was willing to launch the sled, enter the slowly orbiting debris field, and search for the necessary parts. That in spite of the fact that the activity forced her to confront bodies or parts of bodies, some of which were still quite recognizable. Angela rolled her eyes weakly before disappearing into the bathroom. A short while later, she emerged wearing fresh clothes and a carefully composed expression. The tears had been wiped away. The evidence hidden. The pain remained exactly where it had always been. And with every step she took toward the beach, her chest felt heavier.

"Today, the Mancini legacy dies!" Angela declared, looking at everyone at the table, and the silence that reigned was broken by her mother's ragged, eerie laugh.
