I submitted my resignation to Ravenshire State Medical Center. Then I returned to Ashford Hollow, held a funeral for Aidan, and buried his ashes. After I went back to Ravenshire, I threw everything in my house that belonged to my mother into the trash. Once everything was cleared out, I sold the house. Then I left the country and began a new life. The following spring, I received an email from Detective Taylor. Attached was a letter my mother had written in prison. Her handwriting was neater than I expected.

Broken electronics, lost texts, and food or water scraps that would have meant the difference between life and death were among the items discovered in these ruins. As I waited for Zac I doused the place in gasoline. I stood outside smoking a cig while waiting as soon as he pulled up I flicked my butt towards the house and then watched as the gasoline caught and the house I had tortured and killed so many women started to burn.

All the remains of the building rose high into the air, and Marie turned to Angela. Angela nodded as if she had received a message from Marie. She also stepped forward and raised her right palm. Ash and pieces of paper from the rubble started to come together in front of her palm. The ashes turned back into sheets of paper slowly, as if reversing the burning process that destroyed them. In a matter of seconds, a large pile of paper formed in front of Angela's palm and dropped to the ground in front of her.
