Minnie remarked with a smile. "Our Freddy," Orlander chuckled, clapping a hand on Freddy's shoulder, "never had a girlfriend! He gets flustered around women. But for Lauren, he's going all out!" To everyone's surprise, Betty burst out laughing, shattering the pleasant atmosphere. Smiles froze on Orlander's and Minnie's faces. Freddy, fearing exposure, broke into a cold sweat.

“It'll be fine. I'm sure they're just happy to see me back in country.” He didn't say it like he believed it. He sounded like he was trying to convince me that the apocalypse wouldn't be so bad. That there were going to be perks of a hellfire landscape. I looked down at my shoes, trying very hard not to panic or cry. The last thing I needed was to leave the store with streaky mascara and blotchy skin. “Hey, Zoey.” Freddie's voice was light and friendly. I didn't look up. Suddenly, his face filled my vision. He was down on his knees, looking up at me with a playful smile.

As Freddy went to have a word with the man whom I rightly guessed was the Commissioner, I opened my arms up for Birdie, inviting him in. He didn't even attempt to resist the invitation. He grinned widely as he ran across the room to where I stood and hugged me. I hugged him back tightly. My eyes closed. When I opened my eyes, Freddy and the Commissioner were watching our little bonding moment. As the Commissioner turned back to Freddy Z, I heard him say, “I must add that he's happiest when he's with her. He hasn't even attempted to smile since he left here. And here he is, all giddy with her. It's beautiful to see, really.”

"Promise me, that you would save yourself without looking back if anything happens to me" A tear dropped from her eyes as she watched them carry him away, she glanced at Freddy and found out that he was smiling as he played with a green maggot on his palm. She shone her eyes as she recognized the maggot. "Come on everyone! Let's move it!" Oscar barked as the zombies started moving away. "One more to go" Freddy smiled. "Freddy, you have to go with them, I have to meet with the Master concerning that creature," Oscar told him.

Xenoah smiled sparingly at him. Fans? "They are already crazy" he whispered. The man laughed and looked at me. An etchoserang smile flashed on his lips. "So Attorney it looks like the news is real that you're busy right now" that Fredd guy stated with playfulness. Xenoah laughed before wrapping his hand around my waist. "What do you think?" he asked playfully. "Oh my ghosh!" the guy yelled and stood up still fanning with his hand. "You'll be breaking thousands of heart Attorney" he added.

There was a text message notification from Freddie, my friend and Special adviser. I glanced toward the opposite side of the table where he sat. He gestured at me to look at my phone. Making sure July’s attention was still on her unbearable presentation, I glanced down at my phone. Freddie sent me a meme that he’d cleverly created by swapping July's head with that of an evil looking Maleficent. I swallowed a snigger. Glancing at him, I shook my head and grinned. “Do you mind?” July's frigid tone broke me out of my thoughts.

“Someone’s got to keep an eye on the chaos.” Freddy grinned. “We’re not chaos. We’re fun.” “You’re dangerous,” I teased, ruffling his hair. “You will do big things one day.” He puffed out his chest like a mini alpha. “One day.” Ayla did tell me about Freddy wanted to practice his magic, and I was on her side, anything that would make him happy was alright. He was born with an angelic heart and that was all that mattered. Ayla just shook her head, amused. “You created this monster.”

Waiting for Freddie is going to be the hardest task ever. Freddie, a hawk shifter, is a part of the original Freakshow and though he seems to be more of a loner, he is insanely valuable to our pack. He is literally our eyes in the sky and is our secret weapon when it comes to border patrol and protection. He sees everything. I sit up and move over to Bea, who is on the last watch. She smiles softly at me as I approach and take a seat next to her in front of the coals from last night’s fire. “Freddie mind linked Billy. He is flying over the area and will be here soon,”

I ask as I shift him on my hip and start walking toward the car. Josiah, standing nearby with Emilio, clucks his tongue when he sees me carrying Freddie. But he doesn’t say anything—smart man. Experience has taught him that arguing with a pregnant woman is a fool’s game. “School was great! Conner found a bug on the playground and ate it! And Joey spun on the carousel until he barfed all over the hallway,” Freddie says cheerfully, trying to squirm out of my arms. He loves being snuggled—but only at home. God forbid any of his preschool friends catch me treating him “like a baby.” He’s three, after all. Practically grown.
