Retribution
“You think she can hurt me?”
“She’s not an ordinary girl.”
“Neither am I an ordinary man.”
Anatoly’s scowl deepened, but I shrugged his hand off and stepped forward. The men shifted, giving me space.
“Bring out the weapons,” I ordered.
A ripple of surprise moved through the ranks, but they obeyed. Two men disappeared into the armory, returning moments later with crates. The clatter of steel rang out as they dropped them open, a display of gleaming metal under the sun. Swords, katanas, axes, hammers—pieces collected from across continents, weapons that knew the taste of blood and death like I knew the back of my own palm.
