He held me tight.
“Answer me, please,” he whispered.
“Always,” I replied, almost cutting him off. “Always.”
I stopped choking him to grab his face and rub the tip of his nose with mine.
“I know it sounds like a cheesy cliché, but I can’t think of myself without you anymore,” I whispered by his lips. “You know I don’t believe in forever. But if I did, it’d be you, old man.”
A shaky giggle escaped his lips when I quoted the letter he’d sent me for my birthday, holding me tight again to kiss me.
