She stood there with her eyes slightly lowered, looking lost in thought and not moving.
The old me would probably have been on edge, my fingers trembling in an unbearable mix of hope and heartbreak. I would have been suffocating from the bitter feeling of knowing the girl I cared about with all my heart was still hung up on another guy. But now, the feeling wasn't as strong.
I didn't want to watch them, so I followed Samuel and his friends to the card table. A few rounds in, I had lost a decent amount of cash. Irritated, I excused myself and stepped out into the hallway for a smoke.
