My brother-in-law is my mate
“Not now, Valen. Jennifer is too far. How about we have a mommy and son lunch instead?”
He pouted but nodded, and I sighed in relief as I led him to a nearby restaurant. The place had an earthy aroma of soy and spices. We sat at a small booth near the window. A waitress brought over a menu, and I ordered for both of us.
When the food arrived, it looked heavenly. There was a plate of dumplings filled with meat and veggies. A bowl of fried noodles arrived next, tossed with crunchy vegetables, tender slices of beef, and a sweet-savory sauce that made my mouth water. For Valen, I ordered fried rice loaded with scrambled eggs and tiny cubes of chicken and peas.
