I spit it out on the ground, but Arthur refuses to give me a break and kicks my ribs, making me inhale, but the sensation is close to inhaling knives because of the pain. I roll over to my back, and Arthur watches me, his expression a mixture of satisfaction and challenge, as though to say, "Yeah, that's what I can do. Do you want more?" Fear ripples down my body. What happened to Arthur? Why is he trying to kill me now? Why does it seem like I'm fighting his evil twin or his body possessed by some kind o demon?

But the thought of leaving Arthur even a moment before I was forced to do so made my heart ache. Over the past few days, Arthur had been spending more and more time in my room. Whenever we were intimate, he held me so tightly, it felt as if he were afraid to let go, for fear he would lose me. But could that really be the case? I didn't see how that could be true. I'd accidentally seen the contents of his phone when Arthur showed me a photo of Taylor with her newest pet, a green-cheeked conure. There were photos from Catherine of items delivered for their engagement party. That certainly didn't seem to be the actions of a man afraid to lose someone.

Arthur smiled seeing her expression as opened the sealed envelope . " Dad, I've got a lead on a lady named Clara Thorne. I've seen her multiple times with jackass Arthur.....really jackass ?" Arthur asked as he continued reading the letter. " They seem pretty close and I notice him having an argument with the sterling family head. I think they are related. Should we move up the plan or wait till after he gives us a sign," he read and looked at her, " so there's another person wanting me dead," he said and burnt the paper while looking at her.

I can feel that he is glaring at me right now because his hand is massaging my shoulder. "Who's Lu?" Chris's curiosity got filled up after I accidentally mentioned Lucas. I cover my mouth and suck my lips to moisten them. "Ah, nothing." I restlessly answer him. "Kofi," Arthur calls my name, and I hesitantly look at him. He licks his lips while staring at me with a lustful gaze. I gulp, and I want to run because his horniness is showing again. Then with a smirk on Arthur's face, he looks at Chris, "He has another boyfriend, and his name is Lucas." My eyes widened after he opened up Lucas. Arthur is planning on something; I never thought this would happen.

“You wanna explain this?“ Chad threw a magazine on the table. Arthur leaned back, puffing dejectedly. “Not this again.“ “What went wrong that such an article had to be printed? “ “Ursula went wrong, Uncle. I'm fed up with that broad. Getting me in bed with her seems like her life goal. This article just proved how far she's willing to go.“ “Then why don't you just do it?“ Arthur's dark eyes narrowed as he leaned forward. “Do what? “ “Be her lover.“ Chad said those words with so much ease. “For all I know, Mr. Devon has been much of a help to us.“ “Yeah. So the old man helps me and I bang his daughter to show my appreciation. That's awesome!“ Arthur threw his hands in the air in a fake glee.

I asked, smiling. “He’s getting there,” Arthur said, tapping his temple. “He’s distracted by the new librarian, who may or may not be fencing stolen rare books through the annual book sale.” He winked. “It’s pure nonsense, of course. But it’s my nonsense.” This was our new, peaceful rhythm. His playful, fictional world existed alongside my quiet, real one. We were in our own orbits, content.

Every plan, every death, every choice made, all of it had come from him. Poor stupid boy. All he ever thought about was Elizabeth. Love made him weak, but lust made him easy. Arthur’s heart pulsed against my fingertips, slower now, fighting me with every beat. Author's POV "Fuck!" Arthur silently cursed while rubbing his face. He couldn't believe that he was fantasizing about an underage girl. Arabella looked at him confused when he got up with a disappointed face. Disappointed at himself. "Garry will drop you back in the morning." He informed and walked away. Garry met Arthur on the stairs. "I thought you were not going to leave her side..." He teased him. "You are interested in her." Arthur sighed. "She is seventeen. It's not happening."

It would be like a fresh start for our relationship, a chance to do things right this time. Arthur finds me in the kitchen nursing a cup of tea, looking surprisingly domestic with his sleeves rolled up and his tie long discarded. “He’s asleep,” he says, nodding toward Miles’ room. “That dinosaur book is quite the story.” “It’s his favorite. He makes me read it at least once a week.” “I can see why. Very compelling plot.” Arthur moves to the sink, running water to fill a glass. The simple domesticity of the gesture makes my heart ache with longing for what we once had, but also makes my heart soar for we might have again.

I set my lips on thin lines and nodded, Arthur rolled his eyeballs as he puffed out some air and folded his arms on his chest grumpily. "He's still in highschool and there's nothing you can benefit if you start a relationship with him, also his mate is waiting for him at home..." "He has a mate?" she asked quickly, obviously surprised. "Yes, I'm his elder sister and I can't lie" I lied smoothly and looked at Arthur, daring him to say a word. "Besides, he still depends on our mom to feed him and his mate -do you think you can date someone like him?" The girl glared maliciously at Arthur, she angrily reached for the necklace around her neck and threw it at her.
