Just as I was about to open the door, I heard a familiar voice. “What are you going to do?” A voice from the living room caught my attention, and I knew right away it belonged to Beta Anthony. That brought me back to the present. He sounded serious. “What do you mean, what am I going to do? Just what I said. Romero's terms are that I have to marry Catherine and Ophelia needs to be gone by then,” Arthur replied. This wasn’t anything surprising. Everyone in the capital knew. However, hearing it out of Arthur’s mouth caused more pain than I expected.

I knew I wasn’t ready to give up on everything I had with Stephen, hell, it was barely a day old, yet there was no way I could deny that there was an unavoidable spark between Arthur and I. Arthur had noticed my wound hadn’t healed, it was only a matter of time before he found out that I had no wolf. A small shiver of anxiety washed over me, the pack run was in two days.

It’s yet another reason why Arthur immediately reinstated him as Beta with a formal ceremony and a public apology. Our personal life has settled pleasantly as well. Miles is thriving now that his father is home, back to his old boisterous self, chattering away at the breakfast table and showing off his latest school projects. Arthur makes it a point to be home for dinner every night, no matter how busy his day has been. We haven’t set a wedding date yet. With everything else going on, it hasn’t seemed like the right time. But Arthur wears a small smile whenever the topic comes up, and I find myself daydreaming about white dresses and flower arrangements more often than I’d like to admit.

Arthur said with an absolute tone full of confidence. Flora weakly slapped the man's hand away, then got out of the car with a staggering, powerless step without giving the slightest answer. She walked into her house, thinking her hellish suffering had ended, without her knowing that a hidden camera slyly installed by Vanessa had recorded her entire bed activity with Arthur completely—ready to become a time bomb that would destroy her life.

Daphne was fast asleep in the living room, the soft glow of the TV casting flickering shadows across the walls. Suddenly, a loud bang at the door jolted her awake, her heart pounding in her chest. “Let me in, you bitch!” a voice snarled from the other side. It was Leo, Daphne’s husband, and his tone was filled with fury.

She was sitting in a gigantic bathtub while the women washed every inch of her skin gently, one of them was singing a lullaby. Rae let out a sigh of contentment, she could get used to living like this. “Your husband has been rather impatient since you woke up,” One of the village women began. “He doesn’t want to spend one minute away from you.” “My husband?” Rae wondered out loud as she racked her head trying to piece together what the woman had just said but it was hurting her to do so. “Lucas.” The woman answered. “He told us you’re his wife and while we doubted it at first, there’s no denying it now.”

Forming my lips in a thin line, we all exchanged awkward glances and instead of lowering it, Veronica increased the hesitation by her remark. “Wow, never thought you guys would… marry.” He listened to her, bringing a deadly silence for the next few seconds before releasing a mocking chuckle. “When two people who got cheated by the person they trusted the most- they find comfort in each other.” My body stilled when he rested his hand over my shoulder, bringing me closer to his chest. Jared narrowed his eyes with compassion, noticing my discomfort but I hid it quickly. “Dariel, Please. You have moved on with your wife, I have moved on with my husband. Don’t bring the past in between.” Veronica

That was Rebecca's thought. Arthur held her temple and massaged, it felt like it was throbbing very violently. "Yes, I know, ma'am. I should have taken Milly on my honeymoon, but look, she's pregnant. She's also just out of the hospital." Rebecca suddenly punched Arthur on the shoulder, which made him wince. Milly who saw it from a distance only linked her eyebrows in confusion. But the pregnant woman did not dare to say anything or approach them. So, she just waited from a distance.

It gave me goosebumps because the last time we were there, I saw a different side of Lucas, a feral side and I just hope he doesn't flip in Ariel's presence. As I drove through the driveway heading to the house, I sighed. “Baby, we're here.” I said and pulled the car into the parking lot before stepping out. It was already getting dark. I opened the door for Ariel to get down and watched as she admired the place. “Those flowers are beautiful.” She said, pointing at the sunflowers which surrounded a part of the garden. “You're more beautiful than all the flowers.” I replied and held her hand. “Come on,we don't want to keep them waiting.”

She said confidently. “You know, I believed you. I did believe that you loved my son, I gave you a chance to prove it to me. I guess I fell for one of your deceitful traps again.” What a joke. “I fell in love with him. Not the target, not the hybrid. Arthur. The boy who carries too much and still tries to stand between everyone he loves and the dark. I love him enough that I can’t keep doing this. I can’t keep lying to him.” She claims.
