It was a bewildering, overwhelming and non-stop stream of questions demanding that she answer: Coffee or tea? Coffee with milk and sugar? What do you want to eat on your break? Which shampoo? Which hand cream? What bank do you want to open an account in? Do you want to go to the movies? What do you want to see? What are you doing on your day off? Do you want company? And on and on and fucking on.

"You don't mind me asking personal questions, do you?" Maxwell arched his eyes brow. Personal questions?

I don’t know what he means “Yeah, you know” he looks a little awkward now. “they are going to ask bitchy and stupid questions to try and get you to respond in anger or without thinking, most likely about Leo or the asylum. Maybe just straight up make shit up like ask you if you know Leo is getting married now or something” My head whips up to look him in the eye so fast at that last part I almost give myself whiplash. “Sorry? He’s what?”

Kneeling before her, I begin to fold. I can feel her eyes on me, watching me attentively. I want her to know I am angry, so I keep my frown on. "Have you remembered anything?" She asks. My gaze flashes to her. Although I am annoyed I shake my head. AMA has asked this question almost every month. "Not your parents? Or the Ash? Your true name perhaps?" She prods. I shake my head again. I am getting tired of these questions. I have no recollection and my head hurts sometimes when I think too hard.

“I do, not gonna lie about that but I wanna hear it from you, I want to get to know you through you,” “I don’t know what to tell you,” “I will ask the questions, all you have to do is give the answers without dodging them okay?” She asked. “Can I bail out anytime if I get uncomfortable?” “Sure you may, but I hope you don’t,” “Well, let’s see how it goes.”

“What about before?” I sighed, “It bothers you that I haven’t asked you for anything.” “Nothing comes for free,” her voice was pained and hollow. “You either get your payment upfront or later.” I looked out into the night, “Fine. You can pay me.” Her eyes narrowed and she tensed in her seat. “Answer five questions,” I grinned. “One for each thing in the envelope.” She sat back, “What sort of questions?” I lifted a shoulder, “You can choose not to answer them. I’ll just ask another until you answer five. How’s that?”

"Sebastian do you want to play twenty questions?" I asked as I went to sit next to him. "What is that?" He asked lowering the volume of the TV. "We just ask each other questions basically." I replied." "What type of questions?" I mentally did a face-palm. "Serious, random or even dirty." "Oh. Do I have to answer all the questions?" "No, not if you don't want to," I replied, he was always so secretive. "Okay sure."

That joke was a good way to get to know another person, the questions would be about their life and the answers would enable each other to get to know each other better. I still didn't know Arthur well, and there were many things I wanted to know, among them, was the reason why I had never seen his mother, which was my biggest curiosity.

He screams through tears. I roll my eyes and kick his leg. “I didn’t ask for your backstory, moron.” Sometimes I wonder why people are so damn adamant to talk to me. The questions, of the questions; they never stop. Who are you? How did you get inside my house? Why are you doing this? Where are you taking me? Why are we going to the basement? What are you going to do with that spoon? Shit, they’re so predictable.
