I asked. "A man by the name of Dorian." He said and I raised my eyebrows. "Dorian? Like Dorian Gray? That famous story?" I asked innocently and Adrian sighed. "Yes, like that famous story." He said looking at me like I'm the stupidest woman alive. "Dorian was one of the high ups in Europol, he's obsessed with weapons. He has been interested in ILLICIT since ILLICIT started and he wants to be a part of us too." Adrian said as he looked at the cube again. He then let me hold it.

POV: Araya The clearing still smelled of yesterday’s rain — damp earth, pine, and the faint metallic tang of steel left too long in the weather. My bare feet sank into the soil, grounding me before the first strike came. Dorian was already waiting. No shirt. No armour. Just loose training trousers that made it far too easy to follow the way his muscles shifted beneath skin. The bone-forged blade from the altar rested against a stump, but today he was unarmed.

“I’ve been outnumbered before. I’m still here. They’re not.” For a second, all eyes locked on Dorian. That was all Marcus needed. While everyone stared, his bound hands twisted sharply. I heard a sick pop—his thumb dislocating on purpose, some assassin trick. The ropes slipped off. Marcus exploded out of the chair and tackled Kael hard. They crashed to the floor, rolling, snarling, claws scraping concrete.

“Dorian, take the right. I’ll draw fire!” I darted forward, zigzagging to avoid bullets, feeling the wind of one fly past my head. Brison dropped into a slide and flung a smoke bomb at the minigunner’s feet. The guy choked, losing sight. Dorian leapt in, his silver-tipped blade slicing clean through the axeman’s wrist. He screamed so bad. And blood trickled down. There was chaos everywhere. But we were winning. “Alpha, gate’s clear!” Conrad roared.

[Seraphine’s POV] Rage burned within me as I confronted Dorian, the source of my anguish and the architect of our torment. He stood there, his eyes gleaming with malevolence, a cruel reminder of the pain he had inflicted upon us. The scars of his past atrocities marred his features, a testament to the darkness that resided within his soul. "Dorian," I hissed his name, my voice laced with a lethal combination of anger and sorrow. "You think you can destroy us, manipulate time to suit your sinister desires? You've taken Cassian from me twice, but I won't let you succeed again."

We were asked to wait some more until the sun was about to set. The people in the room were now twenty. A few minutes more and the door swung open to reveal the towering stature of King Dorian. We quickly stood on our feet to give respect until he took the space behind the table they prepared.

My blood went cold. "What pack insignia were the attackers wearing?" She shook her head. "No insignia. Black armor. No markings. But their leader..." She swallowed. "Their leader called himself Dorian." The name detonated inside my skull. Dorian. The Elder who cleared his throat at Kael's ceremony. Dorian couldn't come to the clearing with me because for whatever reason he was wanted by his people so he wore a disguise and snuck in telling me that he had to speak with a few of the heads of his military to tell them the truth. These people would in turn talk to the rest and make sure that when I tried to subdue Ashly, none of them would interfere. He would give me a signal prior to my attack so that I would know when he had spoken with them. Whether it not they believed him, I was going to attack so I hoped for their own sake that they did.
