Her fingers brushed through my hair, calming me further. I looked up at her, her face inches from mine, concern written all over her expression. Slowly, I lifted my hand and cupped her cheeks, feeling the warmth of her skin beneath my fingertips. My heart softened at the sight of her, and without thinking, I leaned forward, pressing a soft, gentle kiss to her lips. Astrid's gaze remained fixed on me, a hint of uncertainty in her eyes. Hades did a double take, he was surprised to see me. Astrid turned, a tiny smile on her face, she rushed towards me, pausing a few steps away from me. I could tell she wanted to hug me, but was waiting for me to make the first move. I stretched my arms out, opening wide for her. Astrid rushed into my arms, her tears dropping on my shoulder. A few tears rolled down my cheeks, I hated that we couldn’t be kids when we were and now we couldn’t be friends either.

Astrid turned to glare at him. "What do you expect me to do when I'm having a beauty so close to me." He smirked, moving closer to her. "Keep your distance Kai!" She warned, moving away a little bit. Kai didn't relent, he kept on moving close to her, while she moved away. Astrid was too focused on getting away from him that she didn't realize she was getting to the edge of the chair. She was about falling off, but Kai was quick to grab her hand, saving her from falling.

~~~ The next morning when Astrid woke up she found that she was in an unfamiliar room and was all alone. She got up and sat on the bed, and when she remembered what had happened yesterday, her whole body trembled and she started to cry. A few seconds later the door opened and Hayley walked inside the room, she gave Astrid a small smile and went near her, "hey... are you alright?" Astrid was in tears as she looked at Hayley, her face was red and she looked she was in pain and this time Hayley believed it, Astrid was genuinely crying.

The Velakar howled, blinded momentarily, and staggered back. Astrid, hovering above the battlefield, shone like a beacon through the mist. She extended her hand, and beams of pure celestial energy shot from her fingers, slamming into the Velakar’s ears, causing the creature to thrash wildly. It seemed to be losing control, its monstrous form battered from all angles. “Keep hitting it!” Astrid commanded from above. “It’s weakening!” For a moment, it seemed like victory was within their grasp. The creature was staggering, its movements slower and less precise.

I was Justin's now and always. “This isn't you, Hunter. Please let me go. I promise I won't tell Justin a thing.” I tried to do damage control.
