I accepted Annelise's invitation and visited her at her work at the mall. She used her amazing and long lunch time to show me her favorite stores, including a bookstore whose shelves reached two floors of the building, and the characteristic smell of new and never used books filled the entire environment. I myself was strongly influenced by the unique atmosphere that a library or bookstore can offer, and I ended up buying half my salary of books that would require a lot of strength from my arms to carry them. Also inside the bookstore I was introduced to one of her best friends, Zylah, a very thin and tall girl, with dark blonde hair and green eyes, and the only attendant in the whole store.

Come on.” Lily wasn’t sure what she expected, but it definitely wasn’t this. “A bookstore café?” she asked as they stepped inside the cozy space. Atlas grinned. “You get coffee and books. It’s basically your version of paradise.” Lily glanced around, taking in the warm lighting and endless rows of bookshelves. She had to admit it was perfect.

Going to the kitchen I prepared myself a small breakfast of toast so I did not get morning sickness. Nibbling on it at the kitchen nook I asked Rinn if Cota was alright. “He is swamped with the pack house addition and new pack members, but plans on coming back soon,” she whimpered. Finished with my simple breakfast I headed into the large living room space. Atticus’s home was immaculate and the longer I stayed the more I had grown to appreciate the size and unique decor of magical artifacts. Hearing the front entrance door close I glanced up hoping Axel had returned. Seeing just Atticus enter my smile faltered.

I was a rogue, someone who was supposed to take the hits, but why had I been so unjustly wronged? Mara is a rogue too, yet nobody despises her. With these thoughts swirling in my mind, I eventually drifted off to sleep. I was roused by the faint chirping of birds combined with the sound of a running shower. The night had been so peacefully restful after a long time that I didn't want to stir. I was still in bed, stretching, when the bathroom door swung open, and Atticus emerged, clad in a black dress shirt and black pants. His hair was still damp, with only a few strands clinging to his forehead. No one would ever guess that this handsome man concealed such an ugly beast within.

Katia got out of the car when they arrived at the bookstore. A small smile graced her lips as she entered the shop, accompanied by Jennel. After about ten minutes, both women came out of the bookstore with some books in their arms. Katia seemed happy as she chatted with the woman, until her ears caught a whimper. She turned her head from side to side, searching for the source of the cry, and then turned to look at an alley next to the bookstore.

I hated how my voice shook as I practically begged him not to stay with me during this. “I would never leave you at a time like this, Little Mate,” He quietly comforted me, and I sighed heavily. Cassius came and sat on the other side of me, and I gave him a shaky smile before nodding at Granny Maeve. She gave me a soft smile before opening the door and letting Atticus into the room. Atticus enters the room cautiously, taking in the sight of the three of us on the farthest side of the U-shaped couch, facing the door and him. With slow, non-threatening movements, he made his way to the section directly across from us.

KARINA POV rated R I knock on Atticus's office door lightly as I open it and he smiles as he sees me. "How was your visit," Atticus asks as he puts down the paper he is scanning. I smile and close the door behind me. "Perfect. Thank you for calling her. I didn't realize I needed to talk to her so badly," I reply as I sit down in the chair across from him.

"Let us go meet her." Chicago was a five hour drive. Liam drove. Anna sat in the back. I navigated. The rain followed us the whole way. Grey skies. Grey roads. Grey everything. The bookstore was called "Pages." It sat on a corner between a coffee shop and a flower store. The windows were full of bestsellers. A sign on the door said "Open." We walked in. Bells jingled. The smell of paper and old wood wrapped around me. Shelves stretched to the ceiling. A cat slept on a pile of romance novels.
