She sat down behind the bus driver as the doors closed behind her. Ellie pulled out the phone her mom had given her in the car before they had left and turned it on. She scrolled through the apps, noticing a notification indicating she had 3 new text messages. She ignored the notifications and opened the audiobook application. Her finger scrolled through the books loaded on the phone and the books she could d******d. She pulled out the headphones that came with the phone, plugged them in, and scrolled through the preloaded classics on the app. Tears came to her eyes as she saw Pride and Prejudice. She walked down the street while checking spots she could visit on the guide. There happened to be a public library around the corner, one of the largest in the area. After asking a teenager who was weirdly excited about giving her directions, she headed for the library. She settled for a collection of short stories by Jane Woods, a 'crime books for kids' author. She enjoyed reading it, the simplified diction and the way it still gave the thrills. She was on the last story when her stomach began to grumble. She only had coffee for breakfast. It was not yet twelve but she could go back to the hotel's restaurant and order a good meal from their menu or check out a nice restaurant in the area.

And no doubt, have hot dreams about it. It’s another book suggestion from her. I’ve just finished the last one she recommended, and honestly, I shouldn’t dive into another. Once I start reading, I lose myself completely. But this time, she’s telling me to listen to it. Audiobook. That’s new. Before I even realize what I’m doing, I click the link she sent, and in a matter of seconds, the book is purchased and playing through my home speakers. I settle back in bed, letting the narrator’s deep voice wash over me, and within moments, I realize Lucy’s sent me a stalker romance. Great.

I close the door quietly. I spend an hour in the smaller library looking at the books. He has everything. Fiction. Nonfiction. Art books. History.
