It landed right in front of Alpha Steven, and he picked it up. “What’s that?” I asked. “This is my grandfather's book; I haven't read this one yet, but I plan to later in the future,” Steven said. “Can I see it?” I asked. Steven nodded softly and handed the book over to me. I opened the first page, and his name was the first thing I saw: Howard Mortimer. I read through the first few passages, and each paragraph detailed his experiences and adventures over the years during his youth. As I proceeded toward the middle, the paragraphs became shorter and fewer until I came across a ripped page.

Steven went on to scribble his answer in the book. "TeLL DAvid to stOP BlOWInG Air ON My necK, ANd yes I WIll ReAD thE LeTtER." Steven pushed the book back to the doctor like they were all on cue they all dove into the book to read. Their heads snapped back up to stare at him, eyes almost falling off their sockets. "What!" Steven had mouthed the word and he saw them shake their heads in unison, Steven guessed they read his lips since it was just a single word.

So I had Ivan on my left while Dan was on his left and Violet next to me on my right. "Wow you're real" I hear one of my brothers friends say. "Dude" Dan says and throws food at him. "Hey!" His friend says and laughs before her turns his attention on me again. "I'm Steven, I saw you before when you asked for Clair a while ago" he says. I tilt my head In confusion, not sure what he is taking about, that must be evident on my face because he leans forward and whispers loudly, which means he didn't whisper at all, " I told you about Clair's little rendezvous in the closet with your brother" he says.

This was not how I would survive. I looked around the empty room, but I knew they were watching. I wanted to rage at them as I had been for hours, but I needed to contain my energy. I let my head fall and simply focused on my slow breathing. I heard the door slam open, and someone tossed freezing cold water on me. It startled me, catching my breath. I simply looked at them. “No falling asleep now Daniel. We do not want you to miss anything,” Stevens says. I could not figure out why he was here himself. Like he did not have better things to be doing.

“It's not that I like or dislike it. It's just surprising. Dennis usually takes a lot longer to get to know somebody, and I don't know if I've ever seen him take to someone as quickly as he has with you.” Steven barely touched her cheek gently. “It's a good thing.” It didn’t matter if she agreed or not. While it might be something good, she was still very uneasy about the whole thing, and it showed. Steven asked if she had talked to her brother yet, and she said she hadn’t. Dennis came back and they went to go read the book of his choice. Steven was torn between what he wanted and reality. He hoped that real life started to look more like what he knew could happen.
