Damn it. I reached the guest wing – or what Lorenzo mockingly called my “anger suite” – and slipped inside. It was the room I always used when I couldn’t bear to sleep beside him. The place I ran to when the fights got too loud or the lies got too heavy. It was my escape hatch, my temporary sanctuary. I slammed the door shut behind me with a quiet finality, the click echoing in the sudden silence. I exhaled hard, a long, shaky breath. Relief flooded me like a shot of cheap whiskey.

The door clicked shut behind me, and I exhaled, pressing my back against the wood. Silent. Still. Every move calculated. I was a ghost. A shadow. A fugitive in my own damn dorm room. Mission: Get to bed. Obstacle: Mia Carter, the world’s nosiest roommate.

I rolled my eyes as he bowed to greet me. “Were gonna be on the first flight to San Francisco tomorrow” I said not giving regards to his greeting, I had a lot going on in my head and would care about a fucking greeting, he pushed his mouth opened as him to say something but shut it back down. I pulled the door open but paused abruptly. “Remind me to talk to Karim about the room switch” I added and he blinked in understanding. There was no way I was gonna leave jullie in that scary looking room for too long, she'd called it horrible anyways.

I marched to my room and slammed the door without even waiting for Sil who was calling for my attention. The morning light my room looked like the one in our house. Except I have a balcony and the walls are blue. I look my bag and rummaged through it. I found what I was looking for. I plugged the computer in and turned it on. I placed the hard drive in its socket and played my music as loud as the speakers can take. I lied down on the floor and started to do curl ups.

Perfect. Fluttering into the bathroom, I then transform into a small mouse so that I do not wake anybody up. Scurrying into the adjacent room, I find that it is in fact Rosa's room. If I wake her then she might give me away. She might also help me as well but I have no way of knowing which way she is going to take.

“I’m just a guest.” “For now,” Robert grinned at me. “Will you walk into my parlor? "Will you rest in my little bed?” As he quotes these two lines of “The Spider and the Fly” to me, I give him a suspicious look. “Yes, to the parlor, but not to your bed.” He laughs uproariously. “Then we’ll work on the second one while you get accustomed to the first. Come on, I’m sure Mrs. Mallory wants you to see the room she set up for you.”

We’re killing it this season, and it feels like nothing can stop us. Which is why when Graham and Zion begged me to come party in Zion’s room with the rest of the team and a bunch of girls, I was actually considering it even though Coach strictly warned us against getting wild tonight. But then the rational part of me insisted on going back to my room to get some rest. We have a seven a.m. flight back to Boston and I’d really like not to be hungover for it. I’m sharing a room with Guty, and since he’s up the hall causing mayhem, I have the room to myself, which is perfect. I just want to turn the TV on at low volume and let it lull me to sleep.

Just a few more mathematical changes and I should have this. It's after three when I finally make it to my room. I fly past her tower and it's quiet. I can't help wondering if she's settled in. This mating stuff is a lot of work and I guess I should have held off. Maybe I'll return her tomorrow... today. I shed my clothes, climb into bed, and gray mist washes over me as I enter oblivion. ***
