WHAT WENT WRONG.

Chapter: 2.

******

Steven was dancing to his favorite music when he got a call on his cell phone. First, he loves dancing and he wouldn't stop even if it were his mother on the line, but when he saw the caller he stopped, paused his music and went to answer it.

"Hello!"

"Hey! My main village man. How are you?" Said the melody's voice from the other end and Steven found himself smiling. Steven loves David and they have been friends since forever, in fact, they were both born in the same hospital, the same day and they were both laid in a bed beside each other. Their mothers were in the same room on a bed beside each other when the babies were brought to them. It was as if fate had brought them together. The parents bonded after that ordeal and they had grown to be inseparable, almost brothers. When their fathers had crashed on a plane 10 years ago. They had been each other's backbones and the reason their mothers are still alive. He has missed his best friend and was so happy to hear from him again.

"I'm good. How are you? God! I've missed you."

"I'm doing awesome, where the hell have you been? I just got back from my honeymoon and you owe me so much, man." David told Steven.

"Yeah, brother I know! It wasn't my fault. You know I had to travel. I'm sorry I missed your wedding." Steven was pleading, now sad that he had missed out on his best friend's wedding.

"Well my friend, you're as guilty as charged."

"I know, now tell me. What is my punishment? I am more than willing to take it."

"Very well then, for not coming to my wedding, you're hereby sentenced to two months visit at my place, starting tomorrow. This is my judgment."

Steven couldn't say no to that, he owes that to his best friend, plus they had a lot to catch up on anyways and for that he gladly says.

"Yes my Lord, I accept. Your judgment is fair." Steven answered him and they both laughed.

Soon the conversation was over and Steven found himself throwing clothes and shoes and whatnot on the bed to get packing. As soon as he bent down to get his bag from under the bed, a knock came on the door and he answered without looking up to see who it was.

"Why are you packing?" His mother asked the moment her foot stepped into his room.

"Well my old lady, I just got off the phone with D and for not being there at his wedding, I have to visit him and spend at most two months," Steven explained while shoving both shoes and clothes together into his bag.

"Oh! Steven, I wonder why you both have refused to grow up, David is a married man."

"Mother! No matter what age we might be, we are still best friends and always will be."

"I know that Steven and I'm not going to stop a friendship that has been since forever. You should get married too."

"Mum!"

"Don't mum me, I need a beautiful daughter-in-law and grandkids." Steven mimicked as she spoke.

"Yes mother I know, I'll get married, I just need to find the right lady."

"You've all the beautiful women in the world, pick one already." Mrs. Mebel said.

"Mum!!"

"Son!!!... Once you get back from Dave's, you should find a wife and get married." Steven mimicked her words yet again, angry now Mrs. Mebel slapped him on the back and scolded. "Stop saying everything I say, you should grow up."

"Yes mam, but right now I need to finish up with my packing and also book a flight for 9 a.m tomorrow."

"OK then, you have a wonderful time at Dave's and don't you both start running the whole place on your boxer briefs or even naked, there is a lady in the house and I mean it. You both are grown men and David is married." Mrs. Mebel warned.

"Yes captain old lady," Steven said as his mother left the room.

*********

"Yeah, good old days," Steven said as he remembered that day. David had come home with him and that morning, while David was still asleep, he had farted and it smelled funny that it woke David up and he had threatened to come after him and sit on his head and fart right inside his mouth. Now no matter how much he loves David, he would not let him fart in the same room as him, not to mention on his face, he smelled funny but David’s could kill somebody. So he ran out of the room and outside. David was fast behind him. When Mrs. Mebel came down and was angry at the sight of them, she shouted so loud that the entire neighborhood heard.

"Hey! What in the world would two grown-up men be doing running about the whole building with nothing but underwear on?!"

"It's nothing, mother." They'd both answered.

"You both are what twenty? And you still play like kids, my goodness just when will you two grow up, just for once. Get back inside and get dressed!"

David pulled on Steven's ear until they got to Steven's room where he fulfilled his threat.

How I love him.

Not.

*************

Finally, the day came. Steven got up early, got himself ready and left for the airport, he made it on time and boarded his flight, just four hours and he'd be there. He kept falling in and out of sleep. Steven was so glad when they touched down. He ran to a red airport taxi, gave the driver his address and waited impatiently to get to Dave's. Forty-five more minutes and Steven was home. David has a mansion he'd told Steven he would buy once he got married and Steven was glad he did. Steven walked to the front door and knocked, a skinny looking lady answered.

"You're welcome sir, may I take your luggage?"

A maid, how nice.

"Yes please," Steven answered and handed her his bag, while he followed behind. The house was quiet and you could hear a pin drop.

"Welcome sir, please have a sit. What would you like to drink?" Another maid asked.

"Thank you, but where in the world is David?"

"He told us to let you know, he just stepped out a bit, he'll be back soon." She said and they both left him seated.

"Hello, Steven." A voice called from behind and having Steven turned over to see who it belonged to, his breath hitched. She was beautiful, her hair dark as Ebony so long Steven thought it reached her waist. He found himself lusting after her, completely lost in her beauty.

Get a grip, Steven. You don't even know her.

Steven couldn't speak, he was lost for words, thank goodness the lady noticed. She smiled.

"Hello Steven, have you seen a ghost?"

Now that was harsh but it worked for the awestruck man. Steven snapped out of it. Looking her dead in those gorgeous brown round eyes.

"Hello beautiful and no I've not seen a ghost, but I've indeed seen an angel."

Steven saw red tinting those beautiful plum checks, and he smiled knowing that he had put it there. Steven won this round so he went on to ask.

"What might your name be? Since it's obvious you already knew mine."

"You know David was right about you." She told him.

Not really answering his question but Steven was curious, who is she and what has David told her about him?.

"Really? I wonder what he's told you."

"Relax Steven, you're quite a charmer."

"Thank you, but you've yet to answer my question."

"My name is Soraya."

"Nice meeting you Raya, but what's your relationship with my friend?"

"I'm so sorry, that's my bad. I am Soraya Williams, David's wife. Nice meeting you too."

Steven thought he stopped breathing, David's wife? Then what is this feeling right now? Jealousy? That can't be, he is here for David. Not for Soraya and her beautiful self, was he really lusting after his best friend's wife?

He must be crazy.

"You didn't come to my wedding and I was upset. David sings your praises in this house every day and ever since I met him and not once have I seen you."

No, this is not happening. What is wrong with me? All of a sudden and I can't face her anymore, I can't even look her in the eyes.

"Steven? You don't look so good, please sit down." She helped him sit and called out for water, soon Steven was choking on water and trying to catch his breath, still, he wasn't getting any better and he wanted to go back home. To get away from this house and away from her.

"Steven, how do you feel?"

"Much better, thanks. Could you show me to my room, please?" Steven requested politely.

"Yes please, this way." She leads him into a room, just as Steven lay still, she said. "I'm going to fix dinner."

"Alright Raya, thanks for taking care of me."

"Sure thing, um, one more thing." she turned to face him.

"Yes Raya, what is it?"

"You mean so much to David and to me as well, and don't you forget he loves you very much, sometimes I get jealous. I'm happy you came, Steven."

"Thanks, Soraya, I'm happy to be here as well."

"I'll tell David you're here when he gets back." She said and left.

"Yeah, please do," Steven whispered.
