My fists clenched against the glass as tears filled my eyes. Emma was pale, barely breathing, clinging to Victoria's wheelchair, pleading in agony through her weakened wolf's whimpers, "Mommy... The crimson door creaked shut behind them, muffling the ragged breathing of the man who now lay unconscious on the velvet rug. Terra walked ahead, her golden tattoos glowing faintly under the infernal red light. Her heels clicked like war drums as she led Emma deeper into the heart of the Grim Floors. Emma's senses were overwhelmed—moans echoed faintly from behind darkened doors, the air was thick with incense, sex, and suffering. The healer in her reeled, but the werewolf in her… watched, hungry and curious.

Did I detect sadness in the self-obsessed witch? “Some of these rooms have been vacant for centuries.” She finishes. “There is a Walker room?” I couldn’t help but ask. Curiosity getting the better of me. “Of course.” Estelle scoffed. “The Walker Vault is the oldest room in the Melificus Acus.” She pointed past my shoulder to a room that sat just around the next bend in the staircase. I looked in the direction she pointed, and found myself surprised by what I found.

“A fingerprint scanner?” She leaned a little closer. She’d seen the study. The library. Even Rowan’s private office. None of them had a biometric lock. Then why would a room inside a private home need security like this? “You’re very observant, Miss Laurent.” Emma turned. Carter stood a few steps behind her. She smiled sheepishly. “I was just curious.” His gaze briefly rested on the door before returning to her. She looked back at the scanner. “What room is this?”

Emma emerges a minute or so later with the bruises I saw on her. It then switches and I watch as the warrior follows her from chamber to chamber, but instead of entering the chambers with her as he is supposed to, he stays outside. I then watch as Morgan stops her as she tries to exit the chamber she just cleaned. She pushes her back inside and closes the door. The angle of the camera changes as Morgan exits the chambers and Nathan enters. He then walks out with a limping Emma following behind. The next screen makes my blood boil and I have trouble staying in my chair as I watch Norman corner Emma inside one of the chambers. I look at Angie,

I took a careful step forward, hands raised. “Please, Ray. Let’s talk about this. You don’t have to do this—I’ll listen, I promise.” My heart pounded as I held my breath, waiting—praying that my words would reach him before it was too late. I needed to know her name—maybe, just maybe, it would anchor him back to this realm. My eyes scanned the room, searching for anything that could give me a clue. Even without asking, I already knew. This was the room of the woman who had died at the hands of the Walkers.

They walked further into the building to the space that was specially created for holding outsiders or rogues. Waiting at the front of the questioning room was Emma’s third-in-command, her Gamma who went by the name Chloe Riggs. She was a tall lady with shoulder length auburn hair, hazel eyes with gold flecks and a devotional spirit to work. She was Emma’s other best friend. But in work like they were in now, she was the Gamma. “How’s our hostage holding up?” Emma asked wearing the pair of gloves that Lincoln handed her in case things got ugly with their prisoner.

“Sure, Whatever works for you Luma. If you’re ready, we can go now.” Emma nodded, “yep, I’m ready.” They walked through the pack house and over to the hospital without being disturbed. A few pack members glance their way, but that was it. Once they were in the hospital, they went straight to Alpha Daryl’s room. Quincy waited at the door, “I’ll be here if you need me,” he told Emma as he received the guard at the door. “Go take a break. I will let you know when we are leaving.”

She went in, glad that the elevator was about to close, when she saw someone running towards it. When she started counting again, room 305 was located on the third floor. She approached the front of it and looked to see if there was a camera before going inside. Fortunately, she was hiding her face well enough that even if the camera caught her, her face wouldn't be seen. As soon as she walked in, she went to the desk and started looking. There were also lockers. Many of them. In the midst of so many files and reports, she had questioned how she would find the autopsy. As she kept looking, her phone buzzed. "Are you there yet, Scar?"

“Let’s just see if I can do this” I whisper walking on, too nervous to talk or hear anymore, the doctor pulls a keycard from her pocket and she scans it, the door clicks opening just slightly I push in and my heart sinks when I see Emma crumpled up in the corner of the room crying her heart out, her head burried in her knees as she sobs. I go to her quickly before she has a chance to see me and react, grabbing her head just as she lifts it to look at me, her eyes go wide and her mouth opens so she could protest just as I put her to sleep.
