"Yes hello?" "Momma, big bro is dying" I heard Emma's voice say in the middle of tears. "What?!" "S-some people came in and... And they beat him up and-and- it's- all that D-d-dove's fault, she got a boyfriend and he beat big bro up. His head is bleeding, his nose is bleeding, he's bleeding from his mouth... Everywhere's bleeding and he isn't breathing well. Momma come home quick, he's dying!!"

"Emma, Derek called you mom for over twenty years. How could you stand by and watch him get killed?" "No, that's not true!" Emma shook her head violently. Tears fluttered down from her eyes as she lost control and covered her lips. "Emily, it's not like that. How could I have killed Derek? He's my son, my own son. How could I have watched him die? I really had no choice." Emma's body went limp, and she collapsed on the couch, whimpering. Emily's heart plummeted off a cliff. Despite always holding onto the last glimmer of hope, she remained convinced that Derek hadn't died.

"Careful? What do you mean?" Emma looked at Ken, her eyes narrowed. "There's a black-faced girl over there. She's the one you should watch out for." "Black-faced girl?" Richard interrupted, clearly surprised by Emma's statement. "Who is that girl?" Emma paused for a moment, weighing the words she was about to say. Then, in a lower, more assertive tone, she said, "She killed Alpha Hernandez and his family. Including Elara."

Emma says from behind us. Baylee stops breathing. Matt growls and grabs Emma’s arm, yanking her back. “He’s NOT dead, and you KNOW it!” Mum clutches us tightly, and I focus on her thoughts—chaotic but still moving. Still fighting. Still alive. Emma, however… she’s watching us. Smiling. I turn to her. “Why would you say that to her?” She shrugs, then leans in, whispering: “I don’t know… why’d you show Matt that video?”

Emma got up with difficulty, headed towards the set up. Luckily for her, it was all set up and ready to use. She immediately logged on the internet and the first news she saw, sent shockwaves through her system. She couldn't believe her eyes. Emma went ahead reading the many blog posts centered about her family. Or rather, centered around her. She was dead. She'd been announced dead and as though it wasn't enough, her designs were being promoted everywhere. Her signature piece splashed alongside a smiling Talia, posing as the designer.

After a few seconds of whining, it gradually weakened until it stopped moving. Natalia is finally dead.

Emily asked as she slowly walks backwards, trying to get away from the mysterious entity. "I am Death. The commander of the reapers and the fourth horseman of the apocalypse." His voice sounds eerily deep. Emily's eyes widened. "Am I-" Emily couldn't utter the word. "Dead? Absolutely," Death continued. "I can't die. This can't be happening," Emily dropped on her knees. "Sorry but, there's nothing we can do about it," Death apologized. "I'm dreaming right? This is just a weird nightmare. I'll wake up later then I'll be okay." Emily tries to force a smile, convincing herself that everything is not real.

CHAPTER SEVEN Part of Aleta’s favorite red hoodie turned up in some bramble outside of the city. It was cut, shredded, and stained. Animals had been gnawing and tearing at it, pulling it apart thread by thread by thread with their canines and incisors and grinding molars. From what they recovered of Aleta’s body, she had also been gnawed and ripped, but the animals pulling her apart had been a different sort. Angry Marie made a decision, then, and the impact of that decision would way heavy in her soul for the rest of her life. But seeing as her soul was pretty much tattered beyond recognition anyway, it didn’t seem like that much of a leap.
