She stared at the peeling wallpaper, remembering how her aunt used to read her fairy tales as a child—tales of dragons, lost princes, and impossible magic. Amber P. O. V We jumped in the cascading light falling over the water. Though I'm not a professional swimmer, I did follow suit. Within a blink of an eye, the water vanished to be taken over by the land of white, so full of life with greenery around. Significance of fairy tales, land covered with fluffy white as far as your gaze can take in. A castle made with white and blue marbles surrounded by an enormous garden decorated with varieties of flowers and five elegant beautiful structures covering the outer circle of fountains where some fairies are playing with water.

The summer before eighth grade, Abby and I had been playing pretend fairies outside for the past week, fluttering and skipping in the humidity of the woods. I liked the idea of fantastical things — fairies, dragons, wizards, vampires, and the rest of them — but Abby seemed to believe it. She came to me with love spells, and we performed them with our whole hearts. She smeared us with red clay so we would live forever, and when she told me not to go into the woods alone because of preying beasts, she didn't stammer or flinch.
