He chanted: “I am without fear.” With a smooth, practiced snap of his fingers, he created a spark using his concealed flint and steel. Then, with a guttural cry, Temujin released all the ki he could muster in a Hi Iki Ken (Fire Breath Attack). He had cupped his hands in the shape of a lotus flower and from between them surged layers upon layers of destructive blue flames.

The howling wind in the distance fuels my anger, and I can feel flames tingling at the tips of my fingers. Opening my eyes, I find that the warrior’s snout is only inches from my face. I focus on letting the flames travel up my arm, and the warrior yelps out as his paw is engulfed in flames. He jumps off my body and stomps his paw on the ground, trying to extinguish flames. But I focus on the fire, and it obeys my command and spreads all over the warrior’s body. Slowly, the warrior shifts back to his human form as he rolls on the ground. But it is no use. The flames only obey me.

“You’re of the elements, Elegida. One of the rarest. Born of air, earth, fire… and spirit. You’re not just chosen. You’re meant.” My jaw dropped slightly. Am I the Avatar now? I nearly said aloud but held it in. “Let’s just continue,” I said instead. I flipped through more pages, diving deeper into the abilities I supposedly possessed. Projection. Movement without touch. Telekinesis. And as I practiced, the truth began to settle in—I was dangerous. Even to myself. I couldn’t imagine what might happen if someone evil ever gained control over this… or over me. One passage made me pause:

She countered Rogers' attacks with precise strikes, aiming for weak points in his defenses. But Rogers was relentless, his resolve unyielding. He fought with a frenzied determination, fueled by his belief in King Rico's teachings. With every clash of their bodies, Beverly felt the weight of his misguided loyalty pressing against her. During their struggle, Beverly tapped into her elemental powers, channeling the fiery energy within her. Flames flickered to life around her fingertips, dancing and swirling in a mesmerizing display. As Rogers lunged at her once again, she unleashed a torrent of fire, engulfing him in a scorching inferno.

Oh, my god, I jumped into my place. Aurora and I shared a look. "I did it?" She muttered, and I nodded my head in response. There was a fire campaign as well, but the sticks didn't burn. She smiled and rolled her hand towards the firesticks while activating her power. The wood catches fire, and it burns. She laughed while turning towards the fountain. She rolled her hand and said, "Roll on!" The water rolled up in the air. "Oh, God!" I yelled at the top of my lungs while grabbing my head— she succeeded.

2. Ragnar felt as though every muscle in his body was going to explode. His giant gold scales heaved with sweat, and his tough membranous wings were so hot it felt like his veins were on fire, but he wouldn't give in. Flying just ahead was the Queen and her guard. Today was the day that Ragnar would take his warrior's test.

Raven ignored her, going to the tap with a glass cup and turning on the faucet as she said in one breath, "Mum, where's Armando? The one who cooks?" Annabelle turned to look at her daughter, and let her eyes sweep through her body. "Are you alright, sweetheart?" Raven immediately gulped down the water, hissing when it didn't do anything to reduce the burn then put her hand under the faucet, splashing water on her face before groaning. "Why am I on fire?!" As she turned to face her Mother, there was an amused look on the older woman's face that weirdly irritated her. "What's funny?"

I watch in awe as the once ferocious flames transform into gentle wisps of cool fire, caressing the air around me. Inspired by my control over the fire, Jericho closes his eyes and delves deep within himself. He seeks to connect with the essence of the fire element, to understand its transformative power. As he reaches out with his mind, he feels a surge of energy coursing through his veins. Flames erupt from his fingertips, intertwining with the cool blue fire that surrounds us.

The trees come alive as the branches groan twisting and growing into long, sharp points. She uses the energy and pushes the branches into the hearts over every rogue. The branches twist and tighten around their hearts before being ripped out of their bodies. All at once, 200 rogues fall to the ground dead. “Aura, that was too quick.” I tell her and she scoffs. The earth heats and enters her paws. She walks forward and places her paw on one rogue, causing the rogue’s body to burn. She directs the fire to each dead rogue and, in turn, burns the camp to the ground.

Not hesitant. Not distant. Eager. Like it had been waiting for this moment. A faint glow appeared beneath her skin. Soft at first. Then stronger. Cassian stepped back slightly. Not in fear. In awareness. The ground beneath Ava’s feet darkened. The air around her shifted. Heat. Real. Rising. “Ava,” Cassian said again. She lifted her hand. And the fire came. Not a burst. Not chaos. A controlled surge. Flames curled around her fingers, twisting upward like living things responding to her will.
