Jeevika arrived incognito a few days earlier and has already made arrangements with his apprentice, Korra, who was the abbot of Kinkaku-ji. Korra himself was an accomplished monk who was 125 years old. Despite nearing the natural end of his life, his relentless pursuit of spirituality remained undiminished. When his own apprentice showed him videos of Jeevika's sermons, Korra felt a resonance deep in his pious heart.

Roman's Pov The woman’s voice—soft, trembling, “Sienna… it’s me”—cut through the shack’s damp air like a blade, sharp enough to pull me back from the edge I’d been teetering on. My lips still burned where Sienna’s had been, her taste—rain, salt, her—lingering, hot and heavy, and my hand stayed on her hip, fingers dug into the denim, holding her against me like letting go would unravel me completely. She was pressed close, chest to chest, her breath ragged on my neck, and damn if it didn’t wreck me—how she’d kissed me back, hungry and raw, cracking me open in ways I hadn’t let happen in years.

He said this and walked out, his retreating form leaving the room. Hours later, after we had freshened up, Luca and Killain were having a meeting while I was left with a maid. She didn’t recognize me, so I guess that was a plus. Bored, I decided to take an evening stroll when I bumped into the one person I hate the most—Korra. She glared at me like I had grown two heads as I took in her simple chiffon blue dress and white gloves. She looked stunned, as if wondering where I had fallen from. Well… newsflash: I didn’t give a damn, and her expression was priceless.

I moved furtively toward the source, and I saw Shannon bound in ropes with a man chanting with his hands over the heat of the luminous flame. I released a low growl as I pushed my muscle for a leap, plummeting toward the interloper. I slammed him into the forest floor, slashing my claws over his face, and he roared, his voice holding a familiar resonation of torture. There was a mystical power within his voice, and it thrusted me to the tree trunk. I stumbled down and whimpered with a broken leg, shifting into my human form. “Alpha Logan Marcus Kade of Night Shade Pack. Welcome.” He declared as he rose to his feet. His face had healed and his voice held as much tone of reverence as it could.

Only weariness. “You shouldn’t be here,” he said quietly. “You shouldn’t be anywhere,” I replied. He smiled faintly. “You still have your fire. That’s good.” “This isn’t about fire,” I said. “It’s about ending this. For both of us.” Aaron tilted his head, studying me. “You think you can end it? Do you even understand what you are, Kora?” “Enlighten me.” He stepped closer. “You’re not just a vessel for flame. You’re the bridge between realms. The last anchor between what lives and what refuses to die.”

Korra followed, her eyes searching the room. I reached the desk and began rifling through the drawers. Nothing but paperwork and office supplies. Korra's presence was a constant distraction, though I tried to focus. “There has to be something here dammit.” I muttered, pulling out drawer after drawer, only to be met with disappointment. Korra walked towards the bookshelf, running her fingers along the line of books. She was probably searching for any signs of a hidden compartment. “There’s nothing.” she muttered, frustration evident in her voice.

Some claim a hunter followed her trail. Her hands went cold, and Kael stiffened beside her. “Korra,” he whispered, “this… this sounds like…” “Like she was hunted.” The room seemed to tilt slightly. She held the edge of the book, breathing slowly. Kael placed a hand on her back. “You don’t have to read more now. We can stop.” But Korra shook her head. “No. I need to know.” She turned the page. This time, instead of names or dates, a dried piece of parchment had been tucked between pages; it was old, brittle, and sealed with a silver crest wax stamp.

She said, her tone was raised yet steady. Her words gradually inflated my self-esteem. But hold on, if she is talking about me being all I need to push through who I am meant to be, then what was the pendant all about? “Ummm…Are you trying to say, I do not need the pendant to be who I am meant to be?” My brows furrowed in confusion. “Well…I'd say you finish your meal and you and I would have a proper discussion away from this table,” Korra responded with a soft smirk on her face.

“The Technician of Imperial City.” Kora flinched at the title, but also didn’t deny it. “Well met, Technician,” she bowed a bit lower to Kora, “We have heard of your remarkable work. Very impressive.” She held out her open forearm for the queen to shake. My niece looked at her arm and then up at the drakaina’s face. Whatever Liaison Everly saw in Kora’s eyes was enough to make her flinch. “What I did for my uncle was evil,” Kora responds, her tone flat, “and nothing to be praised.”
